Genbu-Kai Karate

I highly recommend, Anthony Sorrentino Michigan Genbu-Kai. He spends the time, and goes to great lengths to help, teach, and care for his students. He is what I call a man of integrity for each and every student, by giving them the quality instruction that one needs. From ages 3 on up he has shown that he cares for the student.

My 12 year old son has been taking lessons from Sensei Anthony for about 6 months. I'm going to try to relate his progress without crying. My son has COMPLETELY come out of his shell! He was a shy, withdrawn young boy. Now he is talkative outgoing and fun and a lot of it is because of Sensei Anthony!

His classes are fun and challenging. He's patient and sensitive to each person's needs. He even helped us when I lost my job recently.

Sensei has really created a family atmosphere with his kids and adult students. I can't say enough good things about him and his school. Rest assured this isn't just a 'day care center' like a lot of other kids karate places. He has quality karate instruction and a family friendly atmosphere that breeds long term commitment. My son will be with Sensei Anthony for a long time.

Genbu-Kai Karate-Do is an excellent karate school. Here, you will find the traditional karate way and learn the true meaning of Karate. I had toured around other karate schools in the Macomb county, but most of them are for commercial purposes only. I started with this karate dojo back in August of 2009. I have learned a lot in terms of self-defense, discipline, and very techniques that would help me in the future. I would recommend this dojo to all who interested in learning.

I am a Japanese student to Sensei (teacher, instructor, trainer, discipliner) Anthony for the past 7 years. Although I have 2nd degree blackbelt in a different style of martial arts, Genbukai Karate is more traditional, humble, challenging in physical and mental strength. The Master of Genbukai in Los Angeles, Sensei Demura, is the root of this greatly disciplining Karate school. If you want to learn Karate, this is the place.

I found this instructor in the yellow pages, and it was an incredibly lucky find!!! Anthony Sorrentino is a fantastic teacher and role model. I feel completely comfortable leaving both of my children in his care while in class. He manages to find just the right blend of firm kindness children need. My kids have learned a great deal about martial arts, self-control, and self-defense, while having fun and increasing their self-esteem and motor coordination skills. This could not be accomplished without just the right instructor. I would highly recommend this school.

My daughter has been taking classes since the summer of 2009 and she loves it. Her self confidence has soared since attending these karate classes. Sensai Anthony is an exceptional teacher. Not only is he knowledgable, but he is caring and has a true passion for teaching karate. He is able to engage the students and hold their attention the entire session. To ensure that each and every student gains the most out of each class, he grades the lessons to the level of the student's ability. This place is awesome!!!!!!

Our children have been going here for about 8 months! They absolutely LOVE it! They have structure, organization, fun, and of course, they are learning martial arts! They get physical and mental stimulation which they can carry out into their everyday lives! They love Sensei and he is great with the kids! No matter what the age is!

quality people and practitioners of the martial arts is first.

Not only will you receive quality instruction from qualified instructors that have 20 plus years experience ,but you will

have a cultural awakening about what REAL martial arts and Karate is ,not what you see in movies.

All of this and the awesome health benefits,also confidence in being able to take care of yourself in given situations,and learning a little Japanese.What more could one ask for?

But if you are looking for a martial arts school that is the real deal this is the place no matter what your motivation for starting training ages 5 to 95 it doesn't matter.

This Dojo has its roots in a real traditional Japanese style Karate-Do based in Japan and is not a modern hodge podge made up slam bam ,2 year to mastery 20 uniform patches concept.

This Dojo also offers instruction In traditional Ko-Budo ,which is the study and application of Okinawan weapons such as

nunchaku etc.

And Batto, and Iaido which is the study of traditional Japanese sword forms .

Overall this school gives the most bang for your buck .

I have been training here for a little over 3 years, the things i have learned here go past the dojo, its not just you come in and train then you leave and that's it, martial arts is a way of life, you live it, it becomes you. I first came here and i wasn't the best kid in the world, i was getting into more and more trouble, in freshman year of high school i got a .5 credit, no job, an inch away from being kicked out it was rough but i knew what i wanted so i worked for it and i finally got to start karate and it wasn't easy or quick but over the years and many long conversations i changed. I cant say I'm perfect now but i can honestly say im finally happy, im working, almost out of school, i have awesome people in my life, and i got that missing puzzle piece i needed. If your looking for a place to just get your black belt just to say you have one it will never happen, you need to give it everything you got, and constantly push your self, and most of all be humble and be respectful. This is a place to make the overall person the best they can be, i really can not tell you what this dojo has done for me and what it continues to do, it really has changed my life.
