Among the many stars that played the theatre are Paul Ash, The Three Stooges, Judy Garland, Al Jolson, George Burns, Danny Kaye and Alice Faye. Opened in 1889, the Auditorium building was the first multi-purpose building incorporating a hotel, offices and retail spaces along with the theatre.
