Swedish Massage
This is the most common type of massage therapy performed in the United States. Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage can be very gentle and relaxing, and that's one reason why it's so popular!
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle in order to get the most benefit. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. This is one of the most popular massages in our practice, as it compliments chiropractic care and physical therapy the most.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. However, you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one-it's also used by people who are active and work out often, or for those who participate in sports, be it amateur or weekend warrior! The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. Facial Treatment

Ultrasound Therapy
When most people hear the word 'ultrasound', they usually think of diagnostic ultrasound, often used in prenatal screening. We use ultrasound therapy that utilizes sound waves to treat injured muscles, joints, and soft tissues. The sound waves vibrate the tissues back and forth at the cellular level, thus creating a micro-massage effect, which helps to increase local circulation. Increasing circulation in an area of injury basically increases the food and supplies your body needs to repair that area. In the case of a recent injury, this helps to decrease scar tissue, which would otherwise interfere with the body's healing process. The sound waves decrease inflammation by destroying unwanted inflammatory cells. These are like the people in an emergency who just run around flailing their arms around. Therapeutic ultrasound also accelerates healing by stimulating the activity of the cells responsible for cellular and tissue repair.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
We often refer to this as "muscle stim" in our office. This therapy involves low levels of electrical impulses delivered to the injured tissues or areas of pain, in order to reduce pain and speed up healing. It most often feels like an electrical massage, as the electro-therapy pads stimulate the body to increase circulation and release endorphins, which are your body's natural pain relievers. We apply this therapy to decrease pain and inflammation, and it also speeds up your body's natural healing processes.
