Following diet or weight reduction surgery, the skin doesn’t have the stretchiness or elasticity to return to its previous shape.
Electrocardiogram
Surgical dates cannot be guaranteed. There are rare situations when a surgery may be rescheduled due to a hospital emergency or other unforeseen delays in the operating room schedule. Pre-surgical evaluation by a medical consultant — including blood work, EKG or chest x-ray — may be required, at the patient’s expense. If you fail to cancel a preoperative consultation more than 24 hours in advance, half the fee will be added to the next visit. If you fail to cancel an operation more than 24 hours in advance without legitimate medical reasons, half the surgeon’s fee will be kept by the Division without future credit.

Endocrine system: A group of glands that make hormones which help to control activities in your body such as reproduction, metabolism, growth and development. Testing of your endocrine system may be done to look for signs of diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth hormone deficiency, osteoporosis, hypertension and obesity.

Ultrasound
After arriving at our surgical facility, you will be escorted to our operating room. An anesthesiologist will administer medication to help you drift into a comfortable state so you will not feel anything during surgery. Our plastic surgeon will make a few tiny incisions within the treatment area and insert a cannula underneath the skin. The surgeon will move the cannula back and forth to break up the fatty tissue. In some cases, the surgeon will use ultrasound energy to help break up the fat. Then, the surgeon will suction the fat out of the body using a vacuum or special syringe. The incisions are closed with sutures, and a binder-type garment may be placed to help the body adjust to its new curves.

Ear Surgery
The decision to have ear surgery is extremely personal and you’ll have to decide if the beneﬁts will achieve your goals and if the risks and potential complications are acceptable. Your Chicago plastic surgeon and/or staff will explain in detail the risks associated with surgery. You will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure you will undergo, the alternatives and the most likely risks and potential complications.
Hand Surgery
Dr. Gregory Dumanian, a native Chicagoan, graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College, and trained at the finest medical programs in the country. After graduating with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, he completed a five-year residency in general surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He followed this with three years of plastic surgery training at the University of Pittsburgh, one of the premier plastic surgery programs in the country. He then completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the Curtis Hand Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Jason Hyunsuk Ko, MD, is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in reconstruction of the brachial plexus. Dr. Ko earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. Otoplasty
Correction of protruding ears uses surgical techniques to create or increase the antihelical fold (just inside the rim of the ear) and to reduce enlarged conchal cartilage (the largest and deepest concavity of the external ear). Incisions for otoplasty are generally made on the back surface of the ear. When incisions are necessary on the front of the ear, they are made within its folds to hide them. Internal, non-removable sutures are used to create and secure the newly shaped cartilage in place.

Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away. However, since some redness may occur, you may want to plan your work or social engagements accordingly. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure. In addition, your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regimen especially formulated for your skin type.
