This restaurant is always high quality, and great prices. We love eating there and drive 70 miles to eat there when the weather is nice. We love it here!!
The Epicurean is a wonderful Greek restaurant. My husband and I eat there often, especially since we live very close. I love the chicken tenders and he likes (mostly all of it). We start out to get a salad only, but end getting much more. We have taken several family members and friends there and they all love it. The staff are always polite and very helpful. Thank you Epicurean! You're our kind of place.
On a recommendation we went to the Epicurean for a late lunch a couple weeks ago with the promise of great salads among other delicious menu items. It takes more than a gyro to make a Greek restaurant.
Upon entering we were kindly greeted by cleverly outfitted staff and seated. The dimness of the lighting was what you might expect from an upper crust Greek or Italian restaurant and there was a nice mural painted on the back wall where we were seated. Tragically, this was the beginning of the end of Mediterranean authenticity. "Sunny 92.3" was playing on the sound system and the patronage made the room look like a nursing home cafeteria. The high point of the dining experience came first in the form of the complimentary tiropites. Have to give them credit, they were pretty tasty, even if they came out of a bag... which they probably did. However, as soon as we started going over the menu my wife pretty much wanted to leave. There were only a few items that stood out as authentically Greek, so my wife got the gyro and I opted for the "Greek salad" since the people who recommended the restaurant to us raved about the salads which turned out to be more like a salad from Denney's. It was essentially a giant pile of iceberg topped with shredded carrots from a bag, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. There was a touch of the Greek Isles with the un-pitted olives which I used to ad flavor since I'm not much of a dressing guy, otherwise unspectacular.
My wife's gyro was predictable. dryish, wrinkly meat served on a puffy, yet staleish flat bread and the requisite cucumbers, and mostly tasteless yogurt sauce. I ate most of my salad because I was pretty hungry, my wife barely touched her gyro and I took it to work for lunch the next day. We didn't bother trying the baklava.
As we were leaving, I noticed a sign in the waiting area "The Epicurean, A Taste of East Ridge" Maybe they should just change their name.
