This my Church Sisters eating place on Sundays after morning services. Good Southern food, food service workers are accommodating, friendly to us.

Overall

VERY rude staff. Everyone I encountered at the cafeteria line had a terrible attitude. fI work in the service industry and I would never treat my customers the way I was treated tonight. I hope management start to care about being even "decent" to their customers.

Overall

If you are white and gay, do not go to this location.

First, the management is rude. The last time I went through the take out line at 1:45, a slow time, I was kept waiting while staff members kept saying someone was on their way. (These same staff members were enjoying a friendly conversation with a former employee and couldn't take care of me themselves.) I proceeded to go through the line when the manager finally showed up in a huff, and instead of saying "I'm sorry you had to wait" or "what can I do for you" he just glared at me from the top of his glasses with a sharpie and to-go box in his hand. It was if he was saying "what the **** do you want". Once I got over the attempt to be intimidated, I gave him my order and also requested a small refill of iced-tea since the cups they give to go are small. Up to this point, staff members have always honored my request. After all, I had been going in once a week. He walked off and said "uh uh we don't do that". I tried to tell him they had always done that for me and I got another "uh uh, we don't do that".

I just retired from 30 years of food service, and I know from experience it's not always what you say to the guest, it's how you say it. Also, I was already upset and delayed getting back to work, why didn't he just give it to me as a good will gesture and say something like, "this normally isn't our policy, but I will be happy to do this for you this time, but please keep in mind our policy for the future." That would had seemed a little more appropriate. However, the manager had no class, no customer service skills and it was obvious he didn't like me.

Which brings me to my next point. A customer should never know he or she is being judged by service staff. It is called 'table prejudice' and has been addressed in restaurants throughout the country for decades. It is one of those things that should not be tolerated anywhere on any level.

This type of prejudice is also reflected in one of the waiters in particular, Angel. I started going to this location in November. The first time I sat in Angel's station, I did not get any service. He never greeted me, removed my tray, dirty dishes or refilled my iced tea. I left him nothing because he did nothing. After that, I have managed to sit in his station at least 4 other times. Apparentlyl, he thought he wasn't going to get a tip, so each time he did "nothing" and I tipped him "nothing".

In my days as a waiter, I know there were times when I dropped the ball. The way I handled it was to try to do better for that guest on their next visit. I found when I put forth that kind of effort, the customer's began to really appreciate me and would want me to take care of them. This is called "building relationships". That server has no clue. He only cares about the buck and is to lazy to do what it takes to actually make good money and make people happy.

Last, it is so annoying to have to wait for food handlers to finish their conversation before being taken care of. What happened to the customer comes first, and why do I want to stand their a listen to their mundane conversation?

In today's society it is considered politically incorrect to call a person of color racist or bigot. I've seen how the staff is this K and W treat people, and it does exist.

Had I been a black straight man, I firmly believe I would have never had any of these issues..
