        Just ask JP J P Auto Repair has been in business a mere 6 years but has made a name for itself as one of the most reliable and economical independent auto repair shops in the Charleston and surrounding areas. Founded by John Porterfield, who is an ASE - Master Certified Technician with over 35 years experience in auto repair, restoring classic cars and professional racing. Our Business We are a family owned and operated business whose employees and families have worked and grown up in the Charleston area for many decades. WE strongly believe in employing not just mechanics or technicians, but grease monkeys. The term grease monkey is endearingly used in our profession to represent the inherent love for repairing cars. One of our major goals is for our customers to leave our garage with the safest car on the road as possible, without costing a fortune. We want our customers to be leery of "shade tree mechanics" and also the price gouging ways of the dealership repair shop. Service can be professional and found at a reasonable price at J P Auto Repair. Just ask someone that's been here ! If you still don't believe...         I always thought that John's reputation was on the upandup and always thought very highly of him. Now I find that his charges are very high and he does not honor his work. I recommendation to a friend for John to do some work on a very expensive auto and now my friend is having more problems than when he first went into John's shop. At this time I will make no further recommendations for JP Auto Repair.

        Dear Customer, First of all thank you for your referral. I am JP's business partner and want nothing more than to resolve any issues your referral had with the service they received. Please feel free to contact me at our email address and I would be glad to look into the issue for you. Our business does have a very good reputation in the community and beyond. I being a somewhat "silent" partner - I am not made aware of all issues that occur on a routine basis but do all I can to resolve them. Addressing your comments, part of my job is to do price and quality of service comparisons between our business and others; and I continue to find that we are among the least expensive overall in the area. One example is we perform FREE diagnostics - which typically costs between $50 - $100 anywhere else. I also have not known John to correct an issue that we were responsible for, at no cost to the customer. However, if there was a pre-existing issue that was caused by service previously performed - that is something we often do not address due to liability etc. I realize that this event you are referring to was quite a while ago but I have not been notified about testimonials added to this YP website. We apologize for any inconvenience your referral had but again, a more descriptive explanation would be appreciated.
