Started in 1963, Gadsden State Community College is a community college under the control of the Alabama State Board of Education. It serves the alumni, current student and citizens of many other communities. Based in Gadsden, Ala., the university covers more than 8,000 students from across northeast Alabama and across the world. The surrounding area covers tennis courts, swimming pools, gymnasium, parks, playgrounds and golf courses. Its department includes academic division, technical division and skills training department. It offers numerous courses, such as accounting, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, art, associate degree nursing, astronomy, auto body repair and automotive mechanics. The Academic and Technical divisions of Gadsden State Community College offer programs leading to degrees and certificates. It offers a variety of cultural, recreational and political and entertainment experiences for the students and a member of the Alabama Community College System.
