Holly is a full-time licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at the California GPT office. She is a native to Annapolis, where she worked as a PTA for 12 years after graduating from the CACHE Physical Therapist Assistant program, through AACC, in 2008. She recently moved to Southern Maryland, where she enjoys continuing to take part in Outpatient Orthopedics. Holly enjoys working in this type of setting for the variety of treatments there is to offer, and finds it rewarding along with exciting to help patients along their journey as they make progress. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Ultrasound - ultrasound uses a high frequency sound wave emitted from the sound head when electricity is passed through a quartz crystal. The sound waves cause the vibration of water molecules deep within tissue causing a heating effect. When the sound waves are pulsed, they cause a vibration of the tissue rather than heating. The stream of sound waves helps with nutrition exchange at the cellular level and healing. Studies have shown that ultrasound is helpful for ligament healing and clinically, for carpal tunnel syndrome, and muscle spasm.

For many patients, one of the primary objectives is pain relief. This is frequently accomplished with hands-on techniques, modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and/or heat or cold therapy. Movement often provides pain relief as well. Your physical therapist will provide you with the appropriate exercises not only for pain relief but to recover range of motion, strength, and endurance.
MRI
A concussion isn’t visible from the outside, and you can’t see it with standard imaging tools like MRI and CAT scans. Instead healthcare providers look for signs and symptoms of abnormal brain function to make a diagnosis.
Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis - medications are propelled through the skin by an electrical charge. This modality works on the physical concept that like charges repel each other, therefore, a positively charged medication will be repelled through the skin to the underlying tissues by the positively charged pad of an iontophoresis machine. Iontophoresis is usually prescribed for injuries such as shoulder or elbow bursitis.

Physical Therapy
Gateau Physical Therapy was established in 1987 by Southern Maryland native Bonnie B. Gateau in Lusby, Maryland. After success in a small space, Bonnie nearly tripled her space size. After the Gateau Physical Therapy reputation grew, a clinic was established in St. Mary's County at the site of the old Hollywood Volunteer Firehouse on Route 235 in 1993. The Lusby practice continued to grow, so a brand new 4000 square foot facility was built from the ground up. This new facility includes a therapeutic pool and our billing center. 1999 brought about a move by Gateau Physical Therapy in St. Mary's County. From Hollywood, Gateau Physical Therapy moved to the Chesapeake Professional Building to better serve the Patuxent Naval Air Station. In October of 2011, GPT opened its new facility at 23123 Camden Way, California.
Frozen Shoulder
"Patient for 2 months for frozen shoulder. Experience was great! First, it worked! I had very limited use of my right arm, but after just a few sessions I was at about 90%, and 100% after 2 months. It is important to note how professional and pleasant the staff is. In addition to being experts in physical therapy, they are obviously trained thoroughly on office procedures. For example, all the staff consistently ask how you are doing and if you have any pain. And their ability to manage the time was remarkable--there were literally no waisted minutes.
