WITHOUT QUESTION the BEST Italian pastries in the WORLD. I am Italian American, have lived in NYC my whole life, have been to Italy many times, and NO ONE makes better cannoli (or cake!) than Fortunato's.

I have been going to Fortunato Brothers for the last 4 years, one of my girlfriends introduce me to this bakery, her school is near and they get their bakery goods from there. Since then I have been a Fan. When my daughter and granddaughter came in from Texas I took them there and they fell in love with the place, especially the homemade gelato!!!!!!
I have introduced so many people to your eatery.
thank you for making my sweet tooth great.

Great Place!

I initially heard about this place from my boyfriend who said that this particular bakery had the best french style dessert popularly named ""thousand leaves"". I decided to order the cake despite how far away it is from my house and when I got there a very police gentleman opened the door as I walked through and all the girls in the place were super sweet. They were all very helpful and polite. Later on that night I surpised my boyfriend with his favorite cake and to my surprise this cake was so delicious. The flaky layers were crisp and perfect. The chocolate and vanilla creme fillings were devine and the chocolate shavings on top of the cake simply melted in your mouth. All in all this cake was amazing and the people were sweet. I'll be sure to go back!

The best around

Used to travel all the way back to my old neighborhood in the bronx until I found this place.
By far the best cookies and cakes around.

Rude service and egg powder!

I use to love Fortunato Bros. Every birthday, holiday, special occasion I would walk 20 blocks just to get their cheese cake. Well, today was the last time!

I went there today and boy o-boy what a disappointment that was.!!

After 20 minutes of waiting, finally a girl asks me what would I like, all of the sudden a guy next to me appears with a coffee and she completely ignores me and goes straight to him! I said ' excuse me me miss, I believe I was here first and she STILL ignores me and starts to ask the guy in Spanish what kind of muffin he wants! I wait another 10 min, finally decide to get a teramisu and 3 small cheese cakes. 3 boxes with cakes are passed to me, I look at him and ask " Can I have a plastic bag so I can put those cakes in ?" He passes me the bag I say " Thank you" but he just gives me a look and walks away!". I go home after dinner try a cheese cake with my mom and OH MY GOD what a shame!!! - THE BOTTOM OF THE SMALL CHEESE CAKE IS A PLASTIC TOP FROM A COFFEE CUP!!!! The same type that you get with your morning coffee from a vendor guy! IMAGINE BEING AT A PARTY, AND SERVE THOSE CHEESE CAKES TO YOUR FRIENDS! That's not all, on top of that - those cheese cakes tasted like an EGG POWDER!!!!

What happened to Fortunato ?? Rude service, egg powder- NO THANKS! Never again I will go there!! I'm currently looking for a new favorite bakery. :)

Great hang out, espresso, gelatti, and cakes. The best italian bakery in the hood; one of the best i

this is a real neighborhood hangout. I love this place. Great espresso and real Italian treats. I'm not sure what that other person was talking about regarding the gelatti, as far as NY is concerned their gelatti is pretty great. My favorite dessert is their plain large Ba ba; A rum soaked cake. So delicious. I have not tried their cakes but I will and I have a feeling it will make me very happy. Fortunato Bros. is a real Williamsburg hot spot, I feel very lucky to live three blocks away. Don't hesitate to try this place, its great.

Amazing Mango Gillato

I love this place, the mango gillato is amazing. As is the Black Forest Cake, the espresso, and the mocha cookie sandwich. The people watching is great too, stop by around 8 pm on any given night and there is always an interesting local crowd.

My friend owns a shop in the area and she always gets the birthday cake there...hands down the most delicious cake ever! Real buttercream, real strawberries, real bananas (real fatty too, I'm sure) but well worth the risk. Love it.

like the old country!

Best espresso. Can be served at the bar or in cafe!

Gelato Downhill

This place used to have wonderful, intensely flavored gelato. No more. I suspect that they have begun to buy their gelato from a factory rather than making it themselves.
The coffees and the pastries are nice, however, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
