Fillings
There are several different types of filling materials available to you. Composite and silver amalgam fillings are the most widely used. A composite filling is a white restoration made to closely match the color of your teeth. Unlike metal fillings, composite fillings are mercury free. Moreover, they lack the metallic luster of silver fillings, making them more appealing cosmetically for restorations needed in the more visible areas of your teeth
Resin Composite
Bonding is a procedure available to comprehensive family dentistry through which a tooth-colored composite resin (a durable plastic) is applied to restore or improve your smile when you have chipped, fractured, decayed or discolored teeth. With exposure to a concentrated halogen light, this material actually “bonds” to the tooth for a healthy, natural-looking smile.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored ceramic materials designed to cover the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size, or length.
Crowns
A crown (or cap) is fabricated to cover and reinforce the entire tooth in order to restore its original shape and size or to improve its appearance.

Dental Bonding
Your dentist will instruct you on how to protect your bonding restoration, as there a clearly strength limitations in certain circumstances. With proper care, dental bonding usually lasts for several years, but as with most dental restorations they will someday require replacement.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal therapy is one of the more common procedures comprehensive family dentistry utilizes to effectively save badly decayed or broken down teeth. The intent is to save a tooth that would otherwise be extracted.

Periodontal Surgery
If you’re diagnosed with advanced periodontal disease surgical correction may be recommended. Long standing periodontal disease invariably takes its toll. Tooth-supporting bone is lost as a result of the chronic inflammation caused by disease producing bacteria. Significant gum pocketing develops along with tooth loosening and bone loss, and makes it increasingly difficult to control the disease with even the most meticulous oral hygiene efforts. The deep gum pockets associated with periodontal disease cannot be effectively cleansed to control the disease process. While there are varying types of periodontal surgical procedures available to comprehensive family dentistry, the intended outcome of all these procedures is to eliminate the gum pockets. In severe cases where periodontal surgery cannot repair the structures that hold the tooth in place, tooth extraction may be needed.

Dentures
A denture is a removable appliance for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. The basic techniques for fabricating dentures have been well established for many years. Full dentures replace all the teeth in one or both jaws, partial dentures replace missing teeth while depending on remaining teeth for retention and stability.

Dental implants are extremely strong, stable and durable. Most patients are not aware of the presence of a dental implant, and they can function exactly like nature teeth. With proper maintenance they can last a lifetime.

Oral Surgery
Payment per visit as treatment is rendered: Full payment, or estimated insurance co-payment, by cash, check or credit card for treatment performed on that visit. This is the expected method of payment for basic treatment such as fillings, oral surgery, and preventive visits with the hygienist.

Orthodontics
Dr. Schiano is a specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He completed his orthodontic training at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2018. Prior to returning to residency, Dr. Schiano was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Boston University and practiced and taught general dentistry for almost a decade. He completed his DMD degree in 2006 and his Advanced Education in General Dentistry in 2007. He also received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2014.

Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Joseph, one of the groups partners, helped establish the group after 20 years managing his own dental practice in Quincy. Dr Joseph’s concept was to offer Boston-area residents advanced and comprehensive dental care at one convenient location. Dr. Joseph shared a vision of comprehensive family dentistry where patients enjoy having all of their dental needs met in one place by a team of highly qualified generalist and specialist dentists who coordinate their care and consult with each other on complex cases. A Tufts-trained dentist specializing in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Joseph has accumulated over 750 hours of continuing education on topics such as prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) treatment, ceramic restorations and dental implants. For his commitment to staying current on new dental techniques, Dr. Joseph was awarded the designation of Fellow by the American Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Joseph earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the prestigious Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and obtained his Baccalaureate of Science from Northeastern University. Dr. Joseph is a member of the American Academy of General Practice, the American Academy of Oral Medicine, the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Society and the South Shore District Dental Society, where he served as chairman of the Ethics and Peer Review Committees. He is also a former member of the State Council on Dental Care.
General Dentistry
Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Vessiropoulos joined the US Army. He was awarded a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) after completing the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) 2-year residency program at Fort Hood, Texas. There are only four AEGD-2 year programs in existence – three within the Federal Government and one with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
