I will never return, the staff is very rude! Having worked many years in cocktails, I was amazed at how messy the bar itself was, the liquor was placed haphazardly, no order, with mix and other odd assortments of things mixed in. Rags, receipts and other garbage on the counter with the liquor. Probably of no significance, and it doesn't take the pleasure of the food away, it just looked bad and as I said unprofessional.
This is really a mixed review, as I have enjoyed many meals there in a very aesthetic atmosphere. The menu is one of the most diverse ones I have ever seen. The presentation is remarkable and everything is delicious. Intimate music venue, unfortunately the acoustics are awful and it can be very noisy. Now the bad news. The bar is most unprofessional. We took our dinner at the bar this time, and watching the unprofessional bartenders was painful. First they slopped the shots into the glasses so carelessly, at least a third of the customers liquor was spilled down the side of the glass and onto the counter. One bartender mixed two cocktails at the same time, filling the first glass right, but only having less than a half of glass left for the second. She then proceeded to add ice to bring it up to the serving level. Another one actually tasted the drink she was mixing. Having worked many years in cocktails, I was amazed at how messy the bar itself was, the liquor was placed haphazardly, no order, with mix and other odd assortments of things mixed in. I will always return for the food, but will stick with wine or beer if I want what I am paying for. They wasted more liquor than I as an owner would tolerate. They need a professional bartender or at least some training. Pretty just doesn't always get it.
Food was fairly decent, but the waiter was one of the worst I have ever encountered! Ate here tonight, February 10, 2017. We both had stone crab claws which is generally difficult to screw up, so they were great. For an appetizer, I had ceviche was fairly good, though a bit spicy. I had also ordered a side dish of sauteed spinach which was not prepared decently at all. The waiter, however, was a totally different story. We sat down and it took a while for him to come over. I asked a question about a mixed drink and had no idea what I was talking about. He then went over to ask the bartender and when he came back, it explained the drink totally wrong. When I ordered the ceviche, he had no idea what I was ordering It took him 1/2 hour to bring out our order, which is served cold. Other patrons ordered, received their meals and finished before we received ours. He totally forgot about my spinach and I had to remind him. When you serve stone crab claws, you always bring out hand wipes or extra napkins as they are messy. Not this guy, we had to ask for them. He just was inexperienced and seemed lost.We will go back again for the stone crab claws as they were a fairly good deal, but if this waiter, Justin, is our waiter, I will ask for another waiter. It is also the fault of the restaurant as they should offer better training. I left a smaller than normal tip.
This is a great place, starting with the manager Wayne. The staff is always on point and as usual it's a pleasure to come here. The food is great and also the service. They also cater our party's and we always have more than enough food. I highly suggest this place to all my friends.
if I could give this place 0 stars I would they were rude the food is microwaved and they made us sit in the most uncomfortable table even though there were only 2 other people in the restaurant - and the reservations for the other tables were at least 1 hour out and we were gone in35 minutes NEVER to return - eat freaking elsewhere they ARE TERRIBLE
Took it to go. Looked like a mess. Very very small amount of good. Ham was so done tasted like bacon...one piece of chicken size of a nugget...meatloaf wasn't even a slice. Was broken looked like broken up hamburger. Very disappointed
Today I went to the banana boat had a problem with a waitress and then had the manager PETER come storming to my table YELLED at me had the nerve to call me RIDICULOUS THREE TIMES in front of the whole restaurant!!! I am livid this is the worst most embarrassing restaurant experience I've ever had!! I will never eat here again beware of that awful manager PETER and just hope you never have a problem when you eat there !!! Because you will get chewed up and spit out and embarrassed by A BANANA BOAT MANAGER!!
I'm in the Army out of state training to deploy to Afghanistan just before Christmas. My wife calls in tears stating that the server just reprimanded her because our 2 yr. old spilled the salt shaker. Manager attempted to make things better by telling my wife "you should have brought something to entertain your kids". Oh thanks, that helps, parenting advice from a stranger makes it all betterBanana Boat, def. not family friendly. If you support the troops and the spouses that manage every day life while deployed, DO NOT eat at Banana Boat. 1LT Cecil
Great place to eat! The food is reasonably priced and homemade....very friendly staff, great service!
The food is great, the waitresses are very nice...however these folks wont fix the air conditioning there! And the manager has quite the attitude about the 77 degrees it is in there! We also had filled up our "customer loyalty" card there expecting to get a free entry as promised. When we got to the cashier (run by the manager or owner) she said we couldn't do the free entry because we only ordered one entry and appetizer with the meal...We didn't know that it was a prerequest, not that we care about saving $8. for a meal, but the principle involved......If they can just fix the AC and aquire new people to manage in there, it would be a excellant place and I would probably go there more often.
