Glaucoma is a complicated disease in which damage to the optic nerve leads to progressive, irreversible vision loss. The disease generally affects both eyes, although one may have more severe signs and symptoms than the other. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness.
Ophthalmology
Surgical Eye associates offers a variety of eye care services, including eye exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses, and ophthalmology. Our physicians and staff are specifically trained to diagnose and treat all disorders of the eye. In addition to surgical and medical intervention for eye problems, we emphasize preventive care. Our medical doctors are trained in a full spectrum of adult and pediatric specialties.
Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration is a disease that destroys the macula, which is the part of the retina responsible for the sharp, central vision needed to read or drive. Because the macula primarily is affected in MD, central vision loss or “blind spots” directly ahead may occur. Macular degeneration is diagnosed as either dry (non-neovascular) or wet (neovascular). Neovascular refers to growth of new blood vessels in an area, such as the macula, where they are not supposed to be.
Cataracts
If you are suffering from signs and symptoms of aging vision, including the effects of cataracts, our certified eye specialists will discuss your symptoms and determine which treatment is best for you and your vision.
Cataract Surgery
Surgical Eye Associates is pleased to be the first to provide revolutionary, blade-free cataract surgery to the Covington area. The laser is tailored to each patient’s eye and offers increased precision and safety when compared to traditional cataract surgery. This procedure may also produce better results for the patient's vision.
Eye Exam
The mission of our contact lens department is to provide our patients with the newest lens designs and materials while insuring a fit with the safest and healthiest products on the market. We dispense all of the latest designs in disposable lenses including daily wear for single day use as well as weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly planned lens replacement. Our clinic fits and dispenses medical and cosmetic soft or rigid contact lenses that correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus and other ocular conditions. A contact lenses evaluation appointment is separate from or in addition to your routine eye examination, which insures the proper fit, dispensing and lens care for our patients.
Diabetic Eye Disease- A disease of the small blood vessels of the retina of the eye in people with diabetes. In this disease, the vessels swell and leak liquid into the retina, blurring the vision and sometimes leading to blindness. Diabetic eye disease include Diabetic retinopathy, Cataracts, and Glaucoma.
