I'm so tired of being ripped off!!! This doctor needs to get over himself! He's a specialist and obviously not good at the one thing he has committed his career to...root canals. It took less than 5 minutes for Dr.Rice to inform me there was nothing he could do to fix the bum root canal he had done, and that had given me problems ever since, 3 years previously. When I called to make the appt., the receptionist was so kind and eager to get me in there, she really seemed to want to help. I expressed my concern regarding insurance coverage for the x-rays b/c I had already seen 2 dentists that referred me out. She said that she would not charge me for x-rays. After the 5 minute consult, I was checking out and she looked at me with this cold face and in a firm voice says "that'll be $75". Then she said she'd file it on my insurance and refund me if they pay. I pay it hesitantly, but after thinking about it, really regret doing so. All I want to know is what cost $75 if she didn't charge me for the x-rays? They got over $600 from me when they initially did the work, and I can tell you that I was not happy with them back then either. The place was drab and cold and the staff lacked personality and compassion. I was under the impression that he was the only choice, not realizing many dentists do root canals also. I think it's a shame that he could not spare me $75 for 5 whole minutes of his time when I'm suffering from pain resulting from his work. All I have to say is that this doctor obviously overvalues himself. If your dentists doesn't do root canals and insists on referring you out, do not go this place. There are many options. If you choose to go here, you will regret it. They may seem friendly and caring at first, but you will realize very quickly that it's just a front.
