Cedar Lane Nursery School

I was at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church all morning on Sunday, January 10, 2010, but I never sang a hymn, listened to a sermon, or heard the choir sing. Instead, I promoted the "Pennies for Peace" program organized by Greg Mortenson (of Three Cups of Tea fame) and the Central Asia Institute. Our Social Justice Council organized a social justice fair and allocated table space for about three dozen different causes - from peacemaking to Martha's Table. There is lots of work to do and many hands were there to do it this morning. The 7th grade class in Religious Education (Sunday School) has decided to collect used clothing for Congo's victims of civil war and violence. At the end of the month, a 15-member delegation is heading for New Orleans for rebuilding and serving the victims of Rita and Katrina. Again on Feb. 8, Cedar Lane will charter a bus to Annapolis. We will speak out for marriage equality and lobby our elected officials to grant all couples the same tax and medical benefits all straight couples receive from the state of Maryland. This is a matter of fair treatment - justice - and our principle is equal justice under law. Come and visit. Stay and help us build a better religious community and transform the world.
