This dentist billed our insurance for x-rays that they never took. When I called them on it, the office staff lied to me and said she had the x-rays in her hand and was going to mail them to me. I then got a letter saying they were mistaken, that there were never any x-rays taken in the first place, and that they would "write off the amount" of the x-rays. How about just saying they would take the fee off the account? They also billed our insurance an additional 66.00 for an exam, this was Dr. Espirito looking at a tooth and talking about it for 5 minutes. No services were rendered. The letter they sent me said they were releasing the patient from their office. They never had a patient in the first place and the office lady mishandled this situation from the start with her defensive and psychoanalyzing attitude.
