Bellingham Public Works is a department operated by the city of Bellingham in Washington. The department has various divisions, such as engineering design and construction, parking, traffic transportation, utilities, water conservation information, bicycle and pedestrian advisory committee, and garbage, recycling and yard waste. The engineering section provides design and construction of the public works capital improvement program, and preserves the natural resources. Its transportation division provides various services, such as street repairs, sweeping, grading, and maintenance of bridges, traffic signals and street lights, traffic safety and the speed watch program. The department s utility section constructs and maintains storm and surface water systems and operates programs and activities, including public education. The department of public works also prepares development guidelines and improvement standards manuals.
