Ultrasound
The doctor and his skilled staff will once again map the veins in your leg by ultrasound. Your leg will then be prepped and draped. A local anesthetic will be applied at the point of entry. Once access to the vein has been made, a thin laser fiber will be inserted into the vessel. Laser energy will then be delivered to permanently seal the faulty vein. Your leg will then be wrapped and a compression stocking will be applied. Walking is advised following the procedure, and normal daily activity may be resumed avoiding any rigorous activities or swimming. There may be minor soreness or bruising for several days that can be treated with over-the-counter, non-aspirin pain relievers.
