This company is a bunch of scammers looking to collect fees from innocent people who paid their taxes. They garnished my wages, WITHOUT ANY NOTICE about exactly when the garnishment would start or how much they were going to take out my wages so that I could prepare financially for the loss of income, nor did they ask permission from me to do so. I've provided them with my W2's, evidence that they taxes they are claiming are due were in fact paid (3 years ago may I add, if there was a discrepancy with my return 3 years ago, why is it just now coming to light? makes me very suspicious of them). Now that they have the evidence they need, they tell me that they can't give me any specifics on when a refund will be issued. They said it "depends on the workload" and that refund checks are only issued at the end of the month. They said if it is not processed this month, it could be processed next month and the refund check issued at the end of next month - but they can't give any guarantees that it will be issued at that point because "it depends on the workload". I wasn't given notice on when or how much money was going to be garnished from my paychecks. Now that this money was STOLEN from my paychecks, I have bills that I'm not able to pay - sending those bills into collections. This is my livelihood these scam artists are messing with. I proved that I paid my taxes that they decided on a whim to claim I didn't pay, they should issue an immediate refund of the money they took from me without my permission to do so.
Every year I pay my local and per capita taxes to Berkheimer, and every year they send me a bill with inflated late fees and collection costs. Every year! I just filed a complaint with the BBB, and see they've already earned themselves a big fat F!
I get people don't like paying taxes but come on...did you ever try to call the IRS or some of the other other local collectors? You are on hold for A LOT longer than you are calling Berkheimer and then don't get straight answers to the questions you are asking. You may not like the answers they give you but at least they have answers. I have called Berkheimer on several occasions because I am a tax accountant and have many clients. They have always been courteous and have been able to give me answers to the questions I am asking. They are the best and are excellent at the hard job they have to do daily!!!! Thank you Berkheimer for all the help you continue to give the taxpayers that are in need of assistance.
This was bad! I didn't have a major issue, just that I thought they should notify me if my tax collector changes (it changed from an individual to berkheimer). The CSR said, "not knowing who to pay your local taxes to is like not knowing which state to pay your state taxes to." (for real? that's pretty rude, right?) This company needs to go! They must just offer townships a super cheap method of tax collection but I could not believe the attitude and earful this CSR, Leah, gave to me! She also said they don't have any responsibility or requirement to notify us that our taxes are due or where to file - that may be true, but the attitude on the statement was just wildly unacceptable. She was ready to argue the second she answered. In addition, she argued with me that they weren't a private company, that they were a "tax administator." HAHA. helloooo?... You're a private company! (Maybe a nonprofit but I doubt it).
If you want to speak to some of the rudest people, give Berkheimer a call. They act like your an idiot, talk down to you all because you crooks are trying to charge you for taxes you already pay. Working for these people are even worst. you think they treattheir customers badly, they treattheir employees even worst. Myself,fulfilling the position for CustomerCare, I tried my best and when questions are asked that we can not answer we must turn to supervisors who don't know anymore than we do who use 'gues-stimations'. Your on hold for so long because we are waiting for a supervisor to stop snacking and come over to help. The president of the company is beyond rude and unprofessional and sends out emails that have nothing to do with work. Out of all the years I've been employed I've never had to deal with such disgusting petty females who are placed in managerial positions. Supervisors do not want to help therefore making it harder for employees to help the people. So if it seems as if the representative is ignorant of any knowledge its because they are not being informed properly by superiors. Please do not take your anger out on the representative, the people you should be screaming at are the supervisors considering they are the ones who couldn't care less and refuse to waive any of your fees when they certainly can! They don't waive your fees because it goes into their paychecks as a bonus. You want my advice, MOVE OUT OF PA! Just make sure you let them know when you move...oh because that will be the first thing on your mind when relocating.
Beware!!!! FRAUD!!!!!!! STOLE MONEY FROM OUR ACCOUNT!!!!We live in Western Pa. This company charged our Debit Card with an UNAUTHORIZED WITHDRAWAL. We never heard of this company until the charge showed up on our bank Statement.. They may be running a robot trolling for credit and debit cards. Reported to Police!!!! FBI!!!
