Most patients would prefer the single tooth replacement process. It creates beautiful results in a shortened time frame, in contrast to patients who do not have enough bone and need that built up before a dental implant can be placed. Should you not be a candidate for same day replacement, Dr. Robert Guyette or Dr. Olga Smutko and your dentist will work together to fabricate a temporary tooth that will stay in place until the porcelain crown can be permanently placed.
Bridges
Unlike a dental bridge, when placing a dental implant, the teeth on either side of your missing tooth are left intact. As long as you are in good health and there is an adequate amount of bone to support the implant, you should expect the dental implant to last you for years, possibly even a lifetime. Jaw growth is a gradual process and, in some instances, the upper and lower jaws grow at different rates. Improper jaw growth can lead to a variety of problems that affect chewing function, speech, nasal breathing, long-term oral health, and appearance. Injury to the jaw and birth defects can also affect jaw growth and alignment. While orthodontics alone can correct bite problems if only the teeth are involved, Corrective Jaw Surgery is required if the facial bones need repositioning.
