Georgia Radio Reading Service

Like the Elks, they deserve the initials BPOE, for "best people on Earth", largely because of what they do. This is a volunteer agency that serves the reading needs of the blind and reading-impaired people of Georgia, and they do it through the medium of Radio. There are over 325 volunteers statewide who contribute to what the service offers. Reading books, magazines, newspapers, and even the grocery and sale store ads - - that's just some of the material they broadcast. There are age-themed programs (from children to seniors), ethnic-themed news, interview programs, and information on handicapped access to almost everything. And, almost all of the programs are prepared by volunteers, and edited by a skeleton staff of a few people in Macon, Atlanta, Augusta, etc.
