I live close to J's and have been coming here very regularly up until now. I will never go back. They have never been pleasant with their customers. Very occasionally I get a response to me saying, "have a nice day". Today, I went in there and asked the guy how he was doing. "Fine" was his reply. Ok, I get it. Some people don't ask, "and you?" maybe raised in a barn, who knows. But the other employee was work... view moreing the other register and talking up a storm with the lady at the counter. The person ringing me up kept chiming into their conversation... about a purse as well. He told me no total, just held his hand out for the card. So when I left, I did what I always do, I said, "have a nice day" with a smile on my face. I got no reply. So as I began walking out, I repeated, "have a nice day". Still, no reply. So when I was almost out the door I said loudly, "have a nice day, guys!". I hope they got the message. It's a terrible business. The wine selection is awful and the local brews are difficult to find at time. Also, they run out of certain wines often and don't restock them for days. Learn what wines people like and buy more. That's how you run a business. Good rapport with customers and a well stocked inventory. I will be driving the extra 2 miles to The Cellar (https://www.facebook.com…) as I suggest any of you do. It's a smaller store, but great customer service and well stocked inventory. Prices are also steep at J's. I will never return to J's. The poster below said it has the largest selection of beer and wine?! No, that would be http://www.fivepointsbottleshop.com off of Atlanta highway. They have rows and rows of wine. I hardly call "8 coolers a wide selection of beer".
Largest selection i have seen of liquor, wine & beer in Athens with the best prices for, with frindly people with good knowledge of their products. very neat and clean store and product availibility of new products also.
Must check it out to beleive it.
