I called the hotel directly to make inquiries about reservations and rates. The staff was very helpful and pleasant to talk with. My room number was actually assigned when I registered over the phone. There appeared to be some renovations going on a the hotel. Actually our room appeared to have been recently renovated. I read some reviews online prior to registering at the hotel. Some were bad and some were good as to the condition of the hotel.

There still needs to be some painting and repairs done to the exterior of the building. But, we were quite satisfied with our stay and would stay there again.

You don't go to Washington DC to sit in a hotel room, so finding one that is convenient and affordable is good! This hotel is about the closest one I've found to a Metro stop, offers easy freeway access and free parking. I've stayed here several times and really wouldn't consider any place else. It's not brand new and doesn't offer everything, but it's clean, the staff is nice and the breakfast perfectly adequate.

Everything at the hotel was very good, from the room to the staff to the breakfast. The bed was excellent. You can walk to the Metro. A little dicey to get in and out of during rush hour. It's right at a busy intersection but close to a residential area and bike path.

Rented a hotel room for 3 nights when visiting Washington DC. You can walk to the metro station from this hotel via a jogging track and it was safe to do so even late in the night. The area feels pretty safe. Usual breakfast fare and it was good. Friendly staff/clean hotel. plenty of parking and free wifi as well. Overall, a good experience.

We paid the prepaid rate and got a very good deal. While the rooms are small and the bathroom space is tiny, they make good use of the space. You likely won't be spending much time in the room anyway. Housekeeping did an amazing job of cleaning our room. The bathroom was spotless. We stayed in hotels that were supposedly nicer on our long drive there that had stained carpet and dirty tiles in the bathroom. Not here. They served Starbucks coffee in the mornings with the standard bagels, muffins and cereals, so no complaints there. Parking is a little tight and there is no pool. But it is close to plenty of cheaper places to eat and they provide a number for Dominoes Pizza to deliver. You can't beat the location right next to a bike/walking path that leads to the metro station. We would definitely stay here again.

If you're looking for a hotel in the Washington DC area, consider your needs. If you priority is easy access to the metro, a reasonable rate, free parking, a clean comfortable room and a decent breakfast, than the Econo Lodge Metro is for you. When considering other properties in this prices range, most of them offer a shuttle to the metro, which in some cases, runs only every half hour and can only take 6 at a time. I didn't really want to deal with having to wait for a shuttle to or from the metro. Being walking distance to the metro was ideal and top of my list. The hotel also provides a continental breakfast which gave us a good start to our day of sightseeing. Our room had a refrigerator and microwave, which we used to make our own suppers when we returned from Washington. And the cost of our stay was very good value for the area, especially the AAA/CAA rate if you're a member. I must also say, that this felt like a very safe area, even when returning later at night after a baseball game. This hotel best met our needs for this trip and I couldn't have asked for a better fit.

I have to say that I liked this place. It is conveniently located close enough to the National Mall you can get there quickly. We drove in from Tennessee and still had time to go to Arlington National Cemetery in the afternoon after eating and checking in.

WiFi worked pretty good, just a little slow, but that's the way most places are.

Breakfast was included and was your typical continental type. But did have Starbucks Coffee. I would definitely stay here again.

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for three nights in April. We had a great experience. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The front desk people were very helpful when we asked them for places to eat and info about getting around the area. The walk to the metro was only about five minutes and was through a very nice neighborhood. There is a flight of stairs close to the metro that would be a pain with luggage, but we drove and parked at the motel then went on the metro so this didn't pose a problem for us. We drove into Washington two nights of our stay, which was a very easy, quick drive from our hotel. I ran two mornings on the bike/walking trail that is right outside the hotel. I felt very safe there. The breakfast was fairly small. I would recommend that they get a waffle maker, but otherwise it was sufficient with cereal, muffins/danish, milk, juice, apples and bananas. Unless you are looking for a five star place, I would definitely recommend this motel and I would stay there again.

We stayed here while visiting family and highly recommend it! The room was neat and clean, with comfy bedding and fluffy towels.

Nice surprise that there was a small (not mini) fridge where we could store drinks and leftovers. The in-room dining menu disappointed us, but that wasn't the hotel's fault (it's an outside restaurant). Instead, try Hunan Village at 4775 Lee Hwy; they deliver delicious Chinese!!

Traveling into the city is a breeze with a Metro station just 400 yards away. The train delivered us to the Smithsonian Castle in 20 minutes or so.

The one drawback: no elevator, so you may be stuck schlepping bags up or down a flight of stairs (reception is on the 2nd floor), a minimal nuisance in the end.

This Econo Lodge is in a great location for both the freeway and the metro. Our room was good (small bathroom, but otherwise quite nice) and the continental breakfast was good. The neighborhood feels safe, and there are several restaurants a 3-5 minute drive away. But most importantly, the front desk gives great customer service. We accidently booked the wrong hotel, so showed up here without a booking, but they generously gave us a great rate for the night. We would definitely stay here again.

My family of four stayed here in March 2015 in a room with two double beds. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet, clean, safe place to sleep and prepare for your day in DC, I recommend Econo Lodge Metro. We will stay here again on future visits.

We chose Econo Lodge Metro based on its cost and proximity to the Metro train station. The walk to the train station is a well-lit bike path or a residential neighborhood, your choice. The walk from our room to the train was 11 minutes. Train ride to the White House is 18 minutes, Smithsonian Castle is 22 minutes, US Capitol is 28 minutes.

The hotel room was clean and quiet. The double beds were true double beds, not queens, so they were smaller than we are used to at home. You have to really like the person you are sharing the bed with.

The bathroom sink area was very small, and the shower/toilet room was also small, but both were clean and functional. The sink had walls on three sides with only enough counter space for a few cups and a toothbrush. Would be nice to have more counter space, but we managed just fine.

Our room included a refrigerator. Not a full size fridge but also not a small one. We were able to keep 8 water bottles, fruits, produce, and snacks cold in the fridge. There was also a small table with two chairs. Our room did not have a microwave (I thought I saw one in hotel photos before our visit) but there is a microwave in the vending area downstairs. We enjoyed having free wifi in our room. A CVS pharmacy is a 4 minute drive away, as is a variety of dining.

Great value. Clean, quiet, and comfortable with an accommodating & friendly staff. They cheerfully made changes in our room, so we could be close to others in our party who had made plans separately.

There was ample breakfast with something to please everyone.

We actually did walk from the Metro - pulling our suitcases behind.

The only drawback was that there was no elevator going to the second floor.

Free WiFi worked great.

I recently returned for a second stay at the Econo Lodge Metro. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the property is clean, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again when in the Washington, DC area. Being close to the metro station is a huge plus, and we enjoyed the free parking, as well. Although we didn't have breakfast each day, we did see that there was a nice variety of items, and the coffee was hot and fresh each morning.

This property is nicely kept, and a great hotel to stay at when visiting DC.

Thank you for a great stay.
