        The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, founded in 1967, is a nonprofit organization. The organization, also known as AAMI, is engaged in increasing the understanding and safety of medical instrumentation. It is alliance of more than 6,000 members from around the world. The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation is the primary resource for various professions, and government agencies for national and international standards. The organization serves physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators, and clinical and biomedical engineers. It administers the AAMI Foundation, which improves patient safety by fostering support and recognition for the advancement of medical technologies.
