Procedural steps: Sometimes a mastectomy or radiation therapy will leave insufficient tissue on the chest wall to cover and support a breast implant. The use of a breast implant for reconstruction almost always requires either a flap technique or tissue expansion.

General Surgery
Dr. Urquhart grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Birmingham Southern College for his undergraduate education. His medical degree was obtained from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then completed a full five year general surgery residency at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia and subsequently became Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. After completing his general surgery residency, he completed a full plastic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga where he underwent extensive training in not only cosmetic surgery, but surgery of the hand, facial trauma, burns, and major reconstruction. He is now board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church.
Ear Surgery
For the most part, the operation is done on children between the ages of four and 14. Ears are almost fully grown by age four, and the earlier the surgery, the less teasing and ridicule the child will have to endure. Ear surgery on adults is also possible, and there are generally no additional risks associated with ear surgery on an older patient.
