We are a family-owned studio, owned by Chuck Rossen. Chuck started Star Photo back in 1979! Even at that early age, he knew that he absolutely LOVED photography! He had worked hard at his family store, Star China, and decided that photography and housewares could mix. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business. It was after college that his plans to develop a photography business were fulfilled on his return to Anderson. Since those early years, so much has changed! Chuck has a reputation for excellence in serving trade and professional photographer. He has created a specialization in large format prints and gallery wrap canvas. His techniques have been the subject of workshops that he presents to other photolab owners. As Chuck began working with photographers on a daily basis, he found himself inspired by many of his customers who have turned to photography as a hobby and from his pro photographers, as well. Growing up in Anderson, Indiana, photography was almost in-born. Chuck’s dad, Morris Rossen, was an early adapter of the technology (modern cameras are only about 120 years old), and an original member of some of the area photo clubs. He maintained the history of their large family through the pictures he developed in our home darkroom. Chuck continued his father’s love of photography by working on the newspaper and the yearbook at Highland High School. Chuck can’t do everything alone, and has hired extremely qualified people to assist him with every aspect of the business. You’ll come to know them as well as you do Chuck. Chuck enjoys running a business in which the clients are also our friends. We’re not here to just take your picture and give you a print and send you on your way. Chuck feels that we are people in a people oriented business and you treat others how you want to be treated. And that’s why over the past two plus decades that we see the same people over and over again. They’re comfortable here and know that Chuck’s belief is doing everything possible to make sure every single client walks out the door thrilled with everything. We know you can’t please all the people all the time, but we sure do our best!
