"out of pocket" Rates for traditional therapy services vary from $70 - $150. A typical in-office 50-minute therapy session is $120. Contact me for Life Coaching rates. Insurance: Most medical plans provide some coverage for mental health treatment when deemed to be "medically necessary". Typically this means that a client is in some way "symptomatic"- for example, is experiencing significant depression, anxiety, anger, or is having significant problems behaviorally or interpersonally. To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions: What are my mental health benefits? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? How many therapy sessions does my plan cover? How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider? Is approval required from my primary care physician? I am considered an "in-network" provider for most of the local and larger insurance companies: CDPHP, Empire Plan (for NYS employees), MVP, BSNENY, CIGNA, UBH, UHC, Value Options, Medicare. I am typically considered an in-network provider for out-of-state BC/BS plans, but I am NOT in-network for straight BC plans. I also do NOT currently accept Fidelis or magellan, or medicaide (except when it is provided through one of the managed care companies listed above with which I am contracted.) Note- some clients prefer to NOT use their health benefits in order to maintain a higher degree of privacy for themselves, and also for added flexibility in treatment options. Also for those clients who are not symptomatic, but would like to grow personally- life coaching services are available, but are not covered by health insurance.
