Surprises Gift Shop

This store has cute stuff but most of the things are expensive. And I got to feeling that the owner (or at least I think she is the owner) isn't really interested in helping you find something unless she knows you or if you are older than your twenties and look like you might make a purchase. So you have to get help from another employee.

This gift shop in the River Oaks shopping center has been there for a long time. It's in a larger space now, and that allows for more holiday gift items. Don't miss this store at Xmas time. I also always visit Surprises for baby gifts, because they have some unexpected items and can gift wrap. They also have unusual kitchen/home deco items and good quality things. I did only give four stars because everything is fairly expensive in this store, and I have on many occasions experienced a little "attitude" from the young clerks, who are frequently more interested in their own conversations than in customers. But drop in and decide for yourself when you're visiting the United grocery store on that corner of the shopping center.
