Overall
While buying my car the salesm...

While buying my car the salesman insisted on ignoring my questions and talking about the car to my 18 year old nephew who was with me (I was 31 at the time. After the third time my nephew pointed out that I was the one buying the car, not him, so talk to me the only thing the salesman deemed important to tell me was that the 'glove box was the biggest in the business' and the vanity mirror had lights. I bought the car anyway then found that the service dept was even worse.

My transmission went at 8k miles. They test it and say its fine. Right, so I asked please do an oil change. The mechanic couldn't get it into the garage - came out and said - 'lady your transmission is shot'. Yeah, I know, please tell the service rep that. Four days later I call - it was supposed to be done - the service guy says they want me to 'test drive it' with them when I pick it up - then admits he would not ask that if I was a male and also that they hadnt even LOOKED at it yet. 4 more days and I finally get it back - there was a defective part. BTW my trade in had 155K mi and the orig clutch/tranny and had the car I got from masse for 130k mi and never needed clutch or tranny work so it not my driving.

Had a bad wheel bearing unit (fairly common on chevys, this wasnt my first). Without testing it the service guy INSISTS it's the steering. I ask to please test drive, He asks steering shimmy/vibe? Nope, just grinding noise. 'Well it'll start to shimmy, it's your steering' Still no test drive. So I insist. They test drive it (or say they did) and insist its steering. Fine, guess I was wrong. I bring it in when scheduled and they cant take it - they dont have the parts - that service rep that gave me a hard time had quit and didnt place the order. I reiterate my concerns on it NOT being the steering (still no shimmy or play 2 wks later but much noisier) but a bearing - they again refuse to test drive, reschedule me and order parts. I bring it in, they replace the steering (or not - who knows) but then tell me when I come in to pick it up that the mechanic found it had a 'bad bearing unit' on the test drive so they replaced it. But dont worry its under warranty, etc... I had no problem with that but they replacing my steering when it was fine. That I have the issue with - and charging me for fluids, belts, etc that should never have been done because the steering was FINE. They also REFUSED to give me any paperwork - said since it was warranty work I would get it from Chevy in the mail. Really? Didnt do that last year when my transmission was done...? 'oh thats because the policy changed.' Hmmmm.... NEVER saw that paperwork - checked with Chevy Corp and they said the dealership was required by LAW to give it to me. I want back and asked -they couldnt find it. Crooks. So as far as I'm concerned Masse owes me $340 and several apologies.

Oil pressure guage went. They replaced it, it went again within a month. I went back - stopping to add oil every 5 miles since it ran out so fast - and they wouldnt even look at it. Fine, how about an oil change? THAT they had time for. I question why they can change the oil but cant look at where the steady stream of oil is coming out of my car? That should take way less time than an oil change. And aren't you concerned that one of your customers cant safely drive home without constantly adding oil or their engine will seize? They didn't care, didnt have time for DAYS to look at it and I couldnt leave it or have a loaner. Told them they were the worst customer service dept and I'd never do business with them again. Rest of the customers in service dept applauded!!!! Went to Lance and they were GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told me the oil pressure gauge replaced by Masse went because it wasnt put in right. Went to Lance from then on and never had a complaint with the repairs, cost or the professionalism. ALL of which I had issue with at Masse.

Hello, My name is Emile Desmarais, General-Service Manager of Paul Masse Buick GMC located at 55 Fortin Drive Woonsocket, RI. We sell New Buick & GMC vehicles and the customer states it was a new Chevy. Our Chevy Locations are located in East Providence & Wakefield. I suspect there is some confusion as there is a Chevy dealership directly across the street from us, however not owned by Paul Masse Buick GMC Inc. My office is located in the service department and next to the waiting area and neither of the service advisors nor I have dealt with this issue. It is actually the policy of the service department for someone, usually me to road test with customers when possible on all noises for just this reason. Respectfully, Emile Desmarais
