These records often include a medical and dental history, list of medications, oral cancer screening, dental radiographs and periodontal charting.

Teeth Cleaning
Non-surgical services are the foundation of Dr. Ginosatis' treatment philosophy and options. For example, a comprehensive evaluation is provided in order to determine if nonsurgical treatment can address your needs. Based on this evaluation, your treatment options are developed. Your nonsurgical treatment can range from deep cleanings possibly using a tiny camera to visualize the root surfaces to standard periodontal cleanings. The frequency of these cleanings is customized to address you specific situation and varies from a standard to more frequent visitation and cleaning schedule.

Fillings
Veneers
This procedure is simply the removal of gum tissue. While it originated as a treatment for periodontal disease involving pockets, it is most often used today to remove excess gum tissue to expose the entire crown of the tooth. This improves the smile by creating normal tooth proportions as they relate to tooth width and height. It is also used to remove excessive gum tissue that builds up during orthodontic treatment, or to recontour the gums in the front of the mouth when esthetic veneers or crowns are being placed to create a beautiful smile.
Crowns
A connective tissue graft is similar to a free gingival graft in that it borrows a piece of gum tissue from another donor site in the mouth, and uses it to cover exposed root surfaces on the teeth in some cases eliminating the need for a permanent filling. While the appearance of the graft after healing is highly esthetic, the procedure is recommended to protect the soft root surfaces from decay, thicken the gums where they are at risk of receding, shorten the teeth in preparation for new crowns or restorations and protect sensitive roots. This procedure places the donor tissue under the existing gums and can also be completed with commercially available AllodermÂ®
Bridges
Dental implants are one of the most exciting advances in replacing missing teeth. A dental implant is a small screw usually composed of titanium that can be used to support many types of dental restorations to replace missing teeth. The implant simulates the root of a tooth and is put into the bone, usually allowed to heal for a few months and then fit with the appropriate components to support the planned restoration. Each situation requiring a dental implant dictates the steps necessary for the implant placement. In all cases, a dental implant requires solid, healthy bone in sufficient quantity and at the right location to build the desired restoration. Dental implants can be used to support a single tooth, multiple teeth like in a dental bridge, a removable appliance and even a complete set of teeth. They are even being used to help with orthodontic appliances during tooth movement. The number and ideal location for the implants can be determined from clinical records and from an interactive discussion between a restoring dentist, the implant placing surgeon and an interested patient.

Root Canal Treatment
If bone loss occurs between the roots of a tooth creating what is called a furcation involvement, or if a crack or split occurs in one of the roots of a multirooted tooth, a root amputation might allow the tooth to be retained. The procedure requires that a root canal be completed on the tooth usually prior to the procedure, and while the procedure can increase the lifespan of the tooth, it also removes some of the support for the tooth. The effect of this lost support must be weighed against the probability of increasing the lifespan of the tooth and the costs associated with the needed procedures to determine if a root amputation is truly indicated. The procedure involves pulling the gums back gently around the involved tooth and separating the damaged root from the tooth so it can be removed. The underside of the tooth is then shaped to allow access for cleaning and the gums are replaced. Bone is allowed to grow where the root was removed and for all practical purposes the tooth appears normal.

Gingivectomy and Gingivoplasty
This procedure is necessary when teeth are short but extra gum tissue is not the cause, or when the type of gum tissue dictates. It removes a little bone to create the ideal tooth length. The procedure has the same final appearance as the gingivectomy, but also recontours the bone so it supports the gums and creates the optimal biologic relationship between the gums, bone and teeth. While this procedure sounds involved, the bone removal is limited to the minimum necessary and never exceeds what the teeth can support. It often involves only the bone that is not supporting the teeth and can be more stable over the long term than the gingivectomy.
Deep Cleaning
Recent technological advancements have created a small camera that can be utilized to see under the gums into deep periodontal pockets. When this tiny camera is used in conjunction with conventional scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) techniques, the hygienist can be confident that the pockets are clean and the root surfaces are smooth. This adjunct to cleaning often results in greater decreases in periodontal pocketing than conventional scaling and root planing alone and can sometimes reduce the number of teeth requiring additional treatment and/or the severity of disease.

Dentures
When teeth are lost or extracted, normal bite function is interrupted, the jaw bone loses strength, and the smile is no longer uniform. Traditional treatments involve dentures, partials, or bridges, but dental implants provide a better way to restore your smile. Implants can give you both the form and function of natural teeth and promote healthy bone growth.

Osseous Surgery
When nonsurgical therapy has achieved all it can to reduce pockets, but craters are still present in the bone from periodontal (gum) disease, osseous surgery is usually needed. This procedure allows the periodontist to gently pull back the gums to gain access to the roots of the teeth and the surrounding bone. This is usually the first time a dental professional has been able to actually see the roots and verify that all plaque and tartar have been removed and to identify any unusual root characteristics that might be hard to get clean during a dental cleaning. Under a local anesthetic, the procedure involves cleaning the roots thoroughly, removing infected gum tissue and then reshaping the bone around the teeth to make daily cleaning easier and to eliminate as many of the bone craters as possible. The end result is a reduction in periodontal pockets and the creation of gum contours that are now optimized for daily cleaning.
Tooth Extractions
Addition of Bone to Tooth Extraction Sites to Maintain Bone for Later Dental Implant Placement or to Support Planned Tooth Replacements.
Ridge Augmentation
It is quite common for the bone to become narrow where teeth are missing, or where bone was thin around a recently extracted tooth, especially if a socket preservation procedure was not undertaken. A ridge augmentation involves the placement of bone particles or segments obtained from other sites in the mouth or from a bone bank under the gums to replace the bone that is missing or to create additional bone that is needed for a dental implant. In most cases a small dissolving membrane is used under the gums to hold the bone particles in place and give the bone time to heal. Not all sites are candidates for a ridge augmentation, but recent advances in techniques now allow many sites to be successfully augmented for implant placement.
Bone Grafting
With a focus on soft tissue grafting and periodontal plastic surgery, Dr. Ginosatis completed a three-year residency at the University of Washington earning his Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) degree, where he received extensive training in all aspects of periodontics, including esthetic implant surgery, bone grafting, sinus elevation, osseous surgery, esthetic and functional crown lengthening, soft tissue grafting, full mouth implant rehabilitation as well as Botox administration...

Braces
A fiberotomy is a minor procedure to release some of the gum fibers around your tooth after it has been moved by an orthodontist. When a tooth is rotated into proper position, it stretches some of the gum fibers attached to it. When the braces are removed, these fibers contract and pull the tooth back into the position it held before the braces. A fiberotomy makes a small, nonvisible incision between the tooth and gum so the tension in these fibers is released and the gum can reattach to the tooth in the new position with no tension. This significantly reduces the chance the tooth will begin to rotate back to where it was before the orthodontic treatment.
