Overall

best eye doc in town

Had my Lasik done by Doc. Mudgil. Really nice guy. I also liked his technician Shane. Both of them are a great team. They were very thorough and took their time to discuss my options. Other places I checked out, all I saw was the technician. If you are serious about getting about lasik- must see Mudgil! Don't gamble!

If you have an HMO insurance that requires a referral (such as Keystone Health Plan East, Aetna HMO, Tricare Prime, or other HMO), the referral MUST be called in by your primary care doctor to our office PRIOR to the visit. Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a family of diseases that affect pressure within the eye, eventually damaging the optic nerve to cause vision loss or blindness. When pressure inside the eye increases, blind spots in peripheral vision may develop. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the United States. Often called the “silent thief” of sight, most forms of glaucoma do not produce symptoms until vision is already severely impaired. If diagnosed early, the disease can be controlled and permanent vision loss can be prevented.
Ophthalmology
At Mudgil Eye Associates, PC, one of our specialties is the management of Adult and Pediatric Strabismus. Dr. Mudgil is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained specialist in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus. He has received national recognition for his extensive research involving the treatment of eye muscle disorders that cause double vision in children and adults.
Macular Degeneration
Myopia results in a greater risk of eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataract, retinal detachment, and macular degeneration later in life.
Laser Eye Surgery
LASIK and epiLASIK are the two most common laser vision correction procedures performed. LASIK involves using a femtosecond laser to create a partial thickness flap in the cornea, followed by using an excimer laser to change the shape of the remaining cornea to correct the refractive error. Following the laser applications, the flap is reflected back into place. The vision usually improves over the next day, but it will continue to heal/improve over the next 3 to 6 months. The patient can typically return to work the day after surgery.
Cataracts
A cataract is a clouding or opacity within the eye’s lens (see video below). The lens, like that of a camera, is important for focusing light rays onto the retina. When the lens becomes cloudy, light rays do not pass into the eye easily, resulting in blurry vision.There are many types of cataracts. The more common types are listed below...
Cataract Surgery
You can have it removed at any time, including if your vision worsens and you need a procedure like cataract surgery in the future to have an IOL implanted. For patients with astigmatism, the EVO Visian ICL also comes in a toric model.
Eye Exam
A routine or medical eye exam does not include a contact lens fitting/exam. Contact lens exams are more complex and require additional services, measurements and time to perform and therefore incur a separate charge. This portion of the exam is not covered by insurance. We will gladly provide you with a receipt if you wish to submit these charges to your plan.

Internal Medicine
Dr. Holly C. Simpson comes to Mudgil Eye Associates with high qualifications and vast experience. She is a board certified ophthalmologist, and she has extensive experience in all aspects of general ophthalmology. Prior to joining us, she practiced in Ohio, North Carolina and North Eastern Pennsylvania. Her broad expertise in general ophthalmology includes managing complex ophthalmic diseases, such as diabetic ocular complications, glaucoma, and cataract surgery. Dr. Simpson attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her internal medicine internship at Einstein Medical Center and Ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Ohio, where she earned the Suber & Cynthia Huang Humanism in Ophthalmology Award. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, yoga, painting, hiking, and spending time with family. We are delighted to have Dr. Simpson on board as part of our clinical team! Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of blindness in American adults. It is caused by changes in the blood vessels of the retina. In some people with diabetic retinopathy, retinal blood vessels may swell and leak fluid. In more advanced disease, abnormal new blood vessels may grow on the surface of the retina. These changes damage retinal tissue that can culminate in blindness.

Dr. Mudgil comes to West Chester, PA from the internationally renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. A fellowship trained and board certified ophthalmologist, he has broad clinical interests and expertise in ophthalmology. He specializes in the treatment of strabismus, cataract and refractive surgery, medical retina, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Mudgil has been recognized by the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus for his extensive research involving the treatment of eye muscle disorders and correction of double vision. He has been involved in national research involving laser surgery to prevent blindness in premature babies. Dr. Mudgil is a Phi Beta Kappa Honors graduate of the Accelerated Seven-Year Biomedical Program at Union College and Albany Medical College. He completed residency at the Brown University school of Medicine /Rhode Island Hospital, where he was Chief Resident, and fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute/Johns Hopkins Hospital, which has been rated the #1 hospital by U.S. News & World Report, the “best of the best,” for over 17 consecutive years. After rigorous training and teaching at the nation’s best Eye Institution, Dr. Mudgil returned to West Chester, where he first met his wife, to be closer to family.
