The Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, also known as CAB is an agency that offers a range of poverty alleviation programs for low-income individuals. It provides various housing, job training, employment, immigration assistance and community building programs. The agency offers mentoring and after-school services and also organizes workshops on job readiness for at-risk youths through its community restoration project. The Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County administers the Natural Resources and Employment Program, also known as NREP, which includes employment and training for low-income residents through environmental restoration projects. It also conducts the CalWORKs Emergency Payment Program that features advocacy, referral and guidance for individuals who deal with merchants, mechanics, service providers and landlords to negotiate on purchases, contracts and service agreements.
