Having been an intern at Griffin and Company -- a marketing communications firm in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC focused on the building industry -- I can tell you this is a firm that does not follow basic ethics and does not treat people with civility. Here are some examples. Despite the fact that I gave my full attention to the tasks at hand, one employee told one of his friends in the office that he wanted to "seriously kill" me that day simply because my Microsoft Outlook was not working, and that delayed me doing something for him about 3 minutes. I overheard the comment. Also, one employee sent me a long email asking me not to drink the diet cokes in the fridge, even though the company purchased a lot of sodas for everyone, so she obviously didn't like the fact that someone new liked the same type of soft drink she did. The list goes on and on, everyone acted as though they were spoiled trust fund children who were never taught basic manners and did not care about anyone but themselves. With the exception of the receptionist, every single employee either ignored me or treated me unkindly. I have held several jobs afterwards where the employees have been kind, encouraging, unselfish, and appreciative by comparison, so it couldn't have been me that they were reacting to. I have received outstanding reviews at every other job. Never do business or work with the snotty, uptight, aloof, selfish people who work at this firm if you respect yourself and how you are treated.
