Southeastern Stokes Middle School, located in Walnut Cove, N.C., is a public school that provides academic and career and technical education to students in grades six through eight. The school enrolls more than 450 students and is a part of the Stokes County Schools. The school s curriculum includes English, art, mathematics, Spanish, science and social studies. It also provides physical and technology education. Southeastern Stokes Middle School has a business department that provides basic courses in computer applications that include word processing, database management, telecommunications, and software and multimedia presentations. The school emphasizes on reading, creative writing, communication, decision making and problem solving skills. Additionally, the school organizes various extracurricular activities, such as art, band, dance and musical concerts. It also offers health and wellness programs for students suffering from alcohol and drug abuse problems. The school encourages its students to participate in various sports activities, such as football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, golf and tennis. Southeastern Stokes Middle School has a media center that provides fiction and nonfiction books, electronic database and access to the Internet.
