We will help you make the choices that are most appropriate for you, whether for major full-mouth rehabilitation or for the frequency of regular dental cleanings and checkups.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a natural element that is found in water, tea, meat, eggs and fish. It helps prevent tooth decay and speed up the remineralization process in which tooth enamel is built back up. Teeth absorb fluoride from fluoride toothpaste and rinses, fluoride-containing water (almost all public water systems), and from fluoride treatments in the dental office. Have you noticed your teeth are sensitive? Have you or we observed some recent changes in the appearance of your tooth enamel? Clinical fluoride treatments, performed by our Hygienist, will be of benefit. In fact, we suggest a fluoride treatment at six-month intervals, at the end of your Hygiene visit if you are not having a tooth whitening treatment that same day. Our Hygienist simply applies a clinical fluoride solution to each tooth with a brush, and you are cautioned not to rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride. This treatment is not toxic and completely safe.
Dental Sealants
One of the greatest advancements in preventive dental care was the development of dental sealants. Available since 1970, dental sealants are partly responsible for the reduction of tooth decay in the United States over the past forty plus years. Because normal teeth brushing does not always fully clean away bacteria from deep pits and grooves on teeth, Dr. Hagood recommends plastic sealants be applied to the pits and grooves of molars to prevent enamel decay. Applying sealants is fast and easy. We clean and dry the tooth to be treated and then paint a thin layer of clear plastic material on the pits and fissures of the tooth. The material quickly dries in place. Usually, sealants last a long time before retreatment is recommended. Retreatment might not be needed for several years.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Today’s composite resin fillings are safe, durable, and come in a range of tooth colors to match the natural enamel of the tooth and surrounding teeth. The filling will strengthen the outer walls of your tooth and seal off the inside of your tooth, preventing bacteria from returning and causing further injury.
Gold Restorations
Note: Dr. Hagood also offers cast gold inlays and onlays for patients who would like gold restorations in back molars that do not show while smiling. The strength of gold makes it an optimal choice in back molars that endure grinding forces. Dr. Hagood will present the appropriate treatment options for your circumstances and tell you about the benefits of each option. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your preferences before accepting treatment.
Veneers
Enamel erosion and damage can occur over the years, but, as in this case, porcelain veneers can be used to conservatively restore the health and beauty of a smile.
Crowns

Bridges

Dental Bonding
Composite bonding is the process by which tooth-colored dental resin is applied to a tooth and hardened onto the tooth surface. At Vero Beach Art of Dentistry, Dr. Hagood uses composite bonding to create small tooth-colored fillings and to temporarily restore and cosmetically improve teeth while transitioning them to more definitive porcelain restorations that are optimally lifelike and more durable. During this transitional process, temporary composite restorations let Dr. Hagood and the patient “test drive” the form and function of the restorations in the smile and bite.
Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Hagood will share “The Trial Smile” technique you can use to help your patients, not only see what esthetic and restorative dentistry can do for them, but also will allow them to experience you and your team in action. This technique leads to a high frequency of case acceptance, while allowing you to uncover essential information that you cannot discern from diagnostic work-up on an articulator.

Root Canal Treatment
When a tooth is significantly damaged, oftentimes, the most appropriate restoration is a crown that encases the entire tooth above its roots. Prior to placing a crown, a root canal procedure may be required to clear infection from the tooth’s roots and pack them with sealing material.

Deep Cleaning

Dentures
A partial denture has been the most common solution for replacing multiple lost teeth; however, it is no longer considered the best treatment. For functional stability, jaw bone health, esthetics, and treatment longevity, a multi-unit prosthesis can be fixed on one or two implants. Because your oral circumstances are unique to you, Dr. Hagood will explain fully the best method for replacing multiple teeth (in your situation) and what you will experience during and after your ideal treatment.
Overdentures
If you have lost all teeth on an arch, today’s dental technology has advanced to the point where you can have conservative implant treatment, as well. Some of Dr. Hagood’s patients have worn a complete overdenture and decided it is time to invest in the best Dentistry has to offer today. And, that best is truly amazing. Edentulous patients CAN have a beautiful, confident smile, strong masticatory function, and teeth that are fixed on as few as four implants.

Oral Surgery
Katie graduated from Indian River State College with her A.S. degree in Dental Assisting Technology and Management in 2018. She worked in oral surgery for a year then joined Dr. Hagood’s team in 2019. She enjoys weight lifting, traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with her loved ones.

Orthodontics
According to the American Sleep Apnea Association, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) affects an estimated 22,000,000 children and adults in the U.S. This is the condition of having your tongue, throat and soft palate slacken too much when you are asleep, blocking the flow of air through your windpipe. In response, your body will wake up and you may feel yourself gasping for air before falling back to sleep. Reduced oxygen flow and interrupted sleep has been associated with numerous health problems, including elevated blood pressure, diabetes, and lowered daytime alertness and increased sleepiness leading to accidents. If you snore or have a dry throat in the morning, OSA could be happening. If you brux (grind your teeth), it too is associated, due to malocclusion resulting from the crowding of teeth on jaws that are too small. You’ll soon read below why clear aligner orthodontics may bring you important health benefits by increasing the volume of your oral cavity.
Invisalign Orthodontics
I straightened my teeth with Invisalign. Dr.Hagood was very meticulous from the beginning. His goal was the same as mine; a nice smile. I had buck teeth, but not anymore! It was easy; just wear the aligners they give you. I had tried Smile Direct and it was a waste of my time and money. Even though Invisalign is more expensive, it is definitely worth it. The results were phenomenal! Dr.Hagood really knows what he is doing. He made sure my teeth were the best they could be. He did a refinement at the end of the first round of aligners. He gave me 8 more aligners to fix space between my top and bottom teeth. It didn’t cost extra. I was happy with the results. I would highly recommend this office and Dr.Hagood. You will not be disappointed!
