We recently vacated our rental after the lease had expired. Christopher Skoff with Berkshire Hathaway had made fraudulent charges against our security deposit. To begin, there was a generic invoice filled out by Mr

Skoff charging us $500 for painting. The invoice had no phone number or company name so we could verify that the invoice was real. There were also re-keying and cleaning charges that also seemed excessive. The written list of discrepancies also did not arrive to us until 31 days after the date we vacated (Renter's rights says it has to be to us within 30). We disputed the charges and even asked for a face to face meeting. Mr. Skoff then said he would contact the owners of the house but again would not show proof that he did so. Two days after he said he would contact the owners Berkshire Hathaway sent a check with the charges deducted and a letter that said we

had to take it up with the owners. Mr. Skoff and Berkshire Hathaway showed a complete lack of respect for us and Florida's Renter's Rights by ignoring our dispute and questions and throwing everything at the owners of the house whom we have never met or even know how to contact. I'm sure we are not the

first people they have cheated out of money and, unless something happens, we will not be the last.
