I had a terrible experience with this dentist. I never write bad reviews but it bothered me enough that I felt I should. Besides telling me my teeth were awful (never had a cavity or problem in my life), the dentist was condescending and rude. He repeatedly referred to me as "sweetie" and asked what high school I went to (I am years out of college). He said, I quote "oh sweetie, do you drink mountain dew and eat chocolate before bed?" Very rude and dare I say sexist. I will never go here again.

Dr. Williams and Amber are the best pair I’ve had in a long long time! They are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They not only help me keep my mouth, teeth healthy but also help me to keep cost low.

They should change their name to "Scam Factory".
Appointments are overbooked meaning that you will have to wait a long time before actually seeing someone.
I was told that I needed a ton of treatments. I came back a week later after a crown came off. I was then told that "everything was rotted out" and they would have to do some expensive and extensive procedures to fix it.
I went to another dentist and he said there was ABSOLUTELY NO ROT AT ALL!!!
Also, all of the other extensive treatments were unnecessary as I was able to get everything done, cleaning polishing, and reattachment of the crown, in one trip to a different, reputable dentist in Merrilville: Dr. Radovich (HIGHLY Recommended!!!)

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!
My son went in for the promotional 'New patient' special @ $59.00 which included full x-rays. They said they found 12 cavities that needed filling and gave me an estimate of $2830.00!!!!!!
I went for a second opinion elsewhere which a full mouth x-ray workup revealed 2 true fillings which were fixed/filled promptly for less that $300.00.
What a flipping scam this place is - STAY AWAY.

AVOIDDD!

At another office, I had four cavities filled in 2011 and do a cleaning every 6 months. My teeth were in great condition and never even had pregnancy gingivitis. I tried getting the whitening treatment and could not because my teeth were whiter the the model comparison they used. I aged out of my insurance and had to change it as well as the dentist office.

I tried Silhavy Dentist 6 months ago when it was time for another cleaning and got about a 5 minute cleaning for my first visit and could still feel all the plaque on my teeth. They reported I had four new cavities which I had filled all at once and had gingivitis. He overly numbed me to where I felt like I could not breath and was going to choke. At one point they put a cotton roll under my tongue and forgot it there, I was so numb I did not feel it move and it almost went down my throat! Well for the lower back molar they were unable to make contact and the gum formed deep pockets around the two back teeth in which food get traped inside causing irritation, bad breath, bleeding, and pain. I went back a week later and told them that the problem is painful and i cannot chew on my left side. They looked at it and said they needed to 'sand it down because it is too wide' so it would make contact and the gums would heal around it. One hygienist gave me syringes full of a chemical wash to clean it out and use when painful, free of charge, because insurance would not cover them and if pain continued to come back.

Six months later, I am due for a cleaning and having the same problem. The hygeniest said I failed to return for an appointment for a debridement that I never knew about and tried to have me pay for more xrays that wouldnt be covered for $64 or I could wait until the next cleaning and they would be free. She stated the dentist had to come in and look before I could get the cleaning I was scheduled for. He came in and said I needed a redo on the cavity they filled that was irritated (for free) and get a crown on one ($1300 not covered by insurance), a new cavity filled, a debridement, optional $40 flouride, and to return two weeks later for a cleaning after the cavity fillings and debridement.

So I got a FREE second opinion today! The hygienist and dentist saw the xrays from Silhavy along with the treatment plan. First thing she said was that it was stupid they did not give you a cleaning. The dentist said that the new cavity was not a cavity it was just a stain with no decay. Also, when they filled the irritated filling they knicked the tooth and he could tell because it was not on the xrays from the first visit with them before their work. Also, they saw no need for a full mouth debridement what so ever and floride was not even recommended for me! As for the redo, it is needed to fix the contact point but I do not need the filling and a crown only one or the other.

I would not recommend Silhavy they are taking advantage of insurance and patients with false diagnoses! I hope this helps someone and if you have gone there find somewhere that will do a second opinion, some are even free!

Stay away!!! The business is very unorganized and Dr. Williams belongs in the ER with his time management skills. My last and final visit was this morning. I walked out after being unattended for 3 hours. Everyone was very apologetic, but this wasn't the first time that has happened to me. A cleaning visit last year, lasted 2 hours and I could hear the doctor in the other room arguing with some guy over the phone about a bad transaction while I was sitting there patiently waiting for him. Although dental assistants are very nice and easy to talk to, I've had enough. Please take my advice and go somewhere else.

I wish I could give a lower rating than 1 start. This Doctor is awful. We went to him for a couple years. When I started taking my daughter to an orthodontist, I was informed that the cavities that Dr. Williams claimed she had weren't there. I went for a third opinion, and found that it was true. Dr. Williams was going to open up and fill teeth that were perfectly healthy. On one visit his assistant said that my daughter's sealant fell out and they wanted me to pay to replace it. When I explained that I could not afford it they made me feel guilty. When I returned for her next visit, that same person told me that I should have sealed the tooth because it now had a cavity in it. The second and third opinions I got proved this to be a LIE. My husband too was told that he had extensive work that needed to be done. Upon his second opinion, he has been told that his teeth are in great shape and that he has no cavities. Dr Williams is opening up teeth and filling them just so that he can charge insurance companies. I am reporting him to as many officials as I can so that he will no longer be able to hurt innocent people. When I called to get our medical files from his office staff they would not release them to me. I was able to pay to receive our xrays but was afraid that they wouldn't even be accurate. I do not trust him and hope that this will deter more people from using his services. UPDATE: My daughter went this morning for yet a 4th opinion at her dental check up and SURPRISE SURPRISE! Again they assured me that her teeth are in excellent condition. Absolutely no cavities. Dr. Williams needs to stop ruining peoples' teeth.

The reviews for this office made me nervous to go here but I had no choice because my provider list doesn't have a pediatric dentist near me. My experience was 210% opposite from the bad reviews. My daughter has a sensory processing disorder & is scared/anxious about ANYTHING to do with her mouth or tools that make noise. Amber the hygienist spent 20+ minutes introducing my daughter to the tools & made them fun. She even let my daughter use the suction hose on her stuffed animal. My daughter made it through the cleaning without a single meltdown! Once the cleaning was over, I expected my daughter to have a panic attack when Dr. William's was to examine her. Dr. William's was not only extremely patient but also took the time to "play" dentist with our stuffed animal before examining my daughter. She actually allowed him to examine her teeth WITH tools which is a HUGE step for a child with high oral defensiveness. Every single person in this office performed way beyond my expectations!

I went to this office for over 3 years. Right off the bat, I was told I needed all sorts of treatments, cavities filled, gingivitis treatments the whole kitchen sink. On many occasions I waited well over an hour, and usually had dental techs work on my fillings, instead of the dentist himself. After letting them do all this work, I got so turned off that I didn't even go to my next cleaning. I soon realized that their M.O. with people who let more than six months go between cleanings is to make them do a periodontal treatment (they schedule you for a cleaning, but then they tell you you have gingivitis), and can't do the cleaning that same day, so they schedule you again. When I finally decided to go elsewhere, I was told my teeth were fine, I had no gingivitis and all I needed was a basic cleaning. Avoid this place unless you like being ripped off and like pain (the doctor is rough!!!).

Family of 5 with good insurance. Office refused treatment without payment of extra X-rays that were above and beyond insurance allowance. In 11 years with this insurance have never been told or charged this anywhere else. The office let a family of 5 walk away without hesitation. Now I understand thier bad reviews and empty waiting room. Poor service. Wonder if the dentist realizes his staff alows business loss.

Do not go here! Horrible place! They yanked all four of my wisdom teeth, they said they were using IV sedation but they don't give you anywhere close to enough or numb you enough. I felt almost the whole thing! And remember it all to well! I sat in the chair sobbing as he was yanking my teeth and he never showed any sympathy or even paused. The staff is rude and unprofessional. I went back one time after that and Im 6 months pregnant, they were supposed to do a cleaning and exam and the dentist wasn't there they didn't tell me, and never even looked in my mouth. But wanted to schedule me for 4 x-rays even though she said normally it's not allowed when you're pregnant!!! I found another dentist and will never go back to this horrible place again. Nobody likes the dentist but this guy and his staff is just a huge JOKE!

The dentist at this location 8s very rude and not gentpe or concerned wih how his patients are feeling by any means. When he pinched down on my lower lip with his clasp and i made him aware his comment to me was "go someplace else for them to finish" this is in the middoe of surgery. When i brought to there attention the sedation didnt seem to be working a reseptionist from up from asked me if i used recreational drugs because the amount of sedation givin to me should have worked for anyone who didnt... im appauled by the behaviour of the dentist and the person from the front who would say this to me. AVOID this place at all cost.

Avoid at all costs! What a racket! My partner and I dealt with uneeded tooth filling, bad crowns, adult fluoride treatments, unexpected extra appointment scheduling, appointments that always ran an hour late, and brand new required "treatments" for issues that did not exist. Run far far away from this fraudulent sham. This many similar reviews cannot be wrong. I'm just embarrassed that I didn't leave sooner.

This place definitely scams you into several visits with unnecesary treatments. I have had routine dental care for over 30 years (cleanings every 6 months, religiously!) and after moving to the area, I tried this office. On my first visit they said I had severe gingivitis and needed debridement. But I would have to come back twice in order to do it and then have a cleaning. Both times I heard the hygienists telling others they could get a cleaning "if they were eligible for a cleaning" and what do you know, each time the person wasn't eligible for a cleaning, they needed the debridement. SCAM. I am reporting them to my insurance company as well for fraud. Stay away from this place.

A nightmare!

I had the worst experience with Dr. Williams. He stated that I needed a crown on a tooth. After I had the procedure done and a temporary crown was placed I started experiencing horrible pain. I went back and sent back twice stating that the temp crown just needed adjustment (mind you I had to take vicodin to tolerate the pain which made me dizzy and I couldn't function). This went on for a month then he said I needed a root canal. It was a horrible procedure that took two weeks ti get done. My last visit all they needed to do was place my permanent crown but it was so big they had to "sand it down". I was there for almost 2 hours before he took it to a lab and shaped it into pretty much a square! Almost 700 dollars later (original quote 400). I'm walking around with a cube in my mouth instead of a tooth. I wasted so much money and time. Please don't go to this clinic!

Watch out for the $59 teeth cleaning coupon! I had one and the disclaimer was IF dental health qualified. Well I went there about a month ago and they took x-rays and probed my teeth and "broke the news" that I had periodontal disease and many of my pockets were 4-6mm. They also told me I had many cavities. I found this all very difficult to believe. I brush 2-3 times a day, floss at least once a day and rarely drink pop. I wanted a second opinion so I went to Stephan Lucas in Chesterton. He and his staff laughed at what Silhavy Creek told me. My pockets were normal and I had zero cavities. Avoid Silhvay Creek at all costs. They are a scam!
