The owner is crotchety, but he truly knows his business, and he's honest. I've taken stuff to him for more than 20 years, and he's always done the job right, reasonable and on time. Treat him like a gentleman, and he'll reciprocate.

My OLD lawnmower started blowing smoke. I looked on-line, saw some of the poor reviews, but decided to call anyway. When I spoke to him, the owner gave me some suggestions as to what to check before bringing it in for him to evaluate. He stated what he would charge to look at my mower and gave me his thoughts as to what to consider in determining whether my mower should be repaired or just be replaced. I thought "He must want to sell me a new machine" but he doesn't sell. He just repairs. He gave me his honest opinion and didn't sugar coat anything when I spoke to him, so I decided to take my lawn mower to him. I dropped off my mower in the morning and he contacted me that afternoon and advised me of his findings. He then asked if I wanted to move forward with the repairs. I authorized him to proceed after he provided me with an estimate and I provided him with an estimate as to when I would be able to pick it up. He called me at least 3 days before my estimated pick-up date and said that it was ready to go. He even saved me money because he rebuilt my carburetor rather than buying a new one. When I picked the mower up, he provided tips as to how to make the equipment last even longer. I appreciated his honest approach to delivering information. It is straight, concise, and honest. I got my mower repaired for a fair price (his estimate was accurate) and I think that he did a great job.

I talked to the owner about getting some warranty work done on my push lawn mower and he told me that it might not be warranty work but he would take a look at it and let me know. A week or two later I finally have the chance to take it over to him and he tells me that he doesn't do warranty work at all. So we go back and forth about why his answer is different in person than it was on the phone and long story short, he ends up walking away from me and telling me to find another shop. This was the worse customer service I've ever experienced in my life. So don't take your small engine repair needs to this guy!
