I went to Dr. Bernard because of a lump on the right side of my foot that had grown. He looked at my foot and wanted to also replace the joint in my big toe and do a minor surgery on my left foot. He tried to convince me I was better off doing all three surgeries at the same time. I opted for only the one surgery I came in for. The day of the surgery the nurses started to prep me for all three surgeries (did he think he could get away with this?) I insisted on only the one. He came in and said there were three lumps and I could leave it up to him to decide what to do when he opened up my foot or he could wake me and get my feedback? I, of course, said I would leave it up to him. To this day I do not know if he took out one, two or three lumps but I do know I still have one big lump left. He never came out to tell my husband what he had done and he has never answered my email or phone questions regarding this. Nor has he posted anything on my web page at USF. In addition, when I complained that after 3 weeks I was still swollen and red and in pain he insisted that was normal and intimated that I was a wimp for complaining. I went to another doctor and found out he had left a stitch in and my foot was infected. The only way I got him to call me back at one point was to call the patient representative and talk to his superiors. He finally called back but was very short with me. And that is just some of what happened!
