        I'm a runner with very high arches who woke up one morning with an incredibly swollen and painful foot. I went to my general practictioner who recommended a doctor at TPA. When I arrived, the "doctor" didn't examin my foot or compare it to other. He took a series of x-rays then told me it may or may not be a stress fracture in a sesaoid bone. I asked him about an MRI. He dismissed the idea, telling my that it won't tell us anything we didn't already know. I was then put in a bulky fracture boot and told that I'd need to return in 4 weeks. I returned 4 weeks later still in pain, no progress. Again, the doctor didn't examin my foot and instead told me I'd have to wait another 5 weeks for a cortisone (sp.) shot. Frustrated, I found another doctor. This doctor took one look at my x-rays and noted that my sesamoids looked FINE! The fracture boot was unnecessary and the cortisone shot could have caused some major soft tissue damage. He insisted on an MRI and actually spent 20 examining my feet. Find a different place or get misdiagnosed!

        As the practice administrator I would like to know what the MRI showed that our doctor did not diagnose. We are constantly striving to provide the best service available. There are four doctors in our practice and we would have happily transferred your care to another doctor if you felt your care was not being addressed properly.
