Opportunity House is a charitable nonprofit 501 (c)(3) community sponsored rehabilitation center that was established in 1963. Its mission is to help people with disabilities work, reside in homes of their choice and enjoy community life. Opportunity House serves adults who have developmental disabilities (mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism), mental or emotional illness, and physical disabilities, including traumatic brain injury. Its primary sources of revenue include the following: Illinois Department of Human Services; Office of Development Disabilities; Office of Rehabilitation Services; industrial contract review; private contributions; and united funds. Opportunity House is located in Sycamore and DeKalb, Ill.
