Negative experience with a warranty issue. I purchased a set of Owens Classic Running boards for my Chevy van on 12/13/2017. About two weeks later I notice a rattle on the driver’s side board. The dealer discovered a faulty weld. They said they would order a new running board. I called on 1/2/18 to see if the new board was in and they said they were waiting for an answer from the distributor. I called again on 1/9/18 and still no board. I called Owens myself on 1/9/18 and I spoke to Bob Mansmith. He said Owens wanted to repair the board that was on my van. I questioned that solution and asked to speak to Gary Kirtley, the owner of the company. I was informed he was on medical leave and they switched me to one of his underlings. I explained what was going on and he said Owens reserves the right to repair the defective board or I could have it removed and sent back to the factory. He said the dealer could remove the board and take it to a local welding shop. I asked if that would damage the finish on the top of the board and he said “no, it’s polished aluminum” and it wouldn’t be an issue. I took my van back to the dealer on 2/14/18 at 8:00 am to get the repair work done. After 2 hours they said the welder would not touch the job because it would damage the board. Owens finally finally sent out a replacement running board and on 3/7/18 it was installed. I would not recommended Owens Products because of their poor warranty service.
