The Planning Division, located in Stockton, Calif., is responsible for the effectuation of the general plan through the administration of the zoning code, municipal ordinances and the California Environmental Quality Act. The division s staff supports the planning commission and city council on planning matters. It is a part of the community development department, which establishes policies and goals to provide for the growth of the community and promotion and preservation of architecturally and historically significant resources. The community development department directs and coordinates the activities of the building and planning divisions to ensure that applicable codes and laws are implemented and the directives of the city council and city manager are carried out.
