Duraflame firelogs were created in the late 1960s when California Cedar Products Company, one of the world s leading manufacturers of pencil slats and marketer of Forestchoice brand pencils, discovered a more responsible use for the saw-dust by-product it created from milling cedar pencil slats. Traditionally, this sawdust was disposed of by burning it or hauling it to landfills. Based in Stockton, Calif., Duraflame also manufactures firestarters, charcoal and outdoor living products.
