General Info: Established in 1969, the Oregon Department of Transportation works to provide a safe and efficient transportation system. It develops various programs related to highway systems, driver and vehicle licensing, railways, public transportation services and safety, motor carrier regulations, and roads and bridges. The department offers several human resource services that provide information regarding its work procedures to employees, job seekers and representatives from other agencies. The Oregon Department of Transportation also maintains a transportation commission that guides the planning, development and management of a statewide transportation network. It supports a statewide transportation improvement program that identifies the funding and scheduling of transportation projects and programs. The department s online services include vehicle registration renewal, change of addresses and notices of vehicle sale. The Oregon Department of Transportation maintains its headquarters in Salem, Ore.
