Ear Infections
Hearing loss affects one in ten North Americans. The unique domain of otolaryngologists is the treatment of ear disorders. They are trained in both the medical and surgical treatment of hearing, ear infections, balance disorders, ear noise (tinnitus), nerve pain, and facial and cranial nerve disorders. Otolaryngologists also manage congenital (birth) disorders of the outer and inner ear.

This center of the body includes the important nerves that control sight, smell, hearing, and the face. In the head and neck area, otolaryngologists are trained to treat infectious diseases, both benign and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, and deformities of the face. They perform both cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery.

After you’ve been signed up for MyChart for six months, you can use it to keep track of routine care that is due and receive reminders for flu shots and other immunizations, physical exams, and preventive care procedures.

Continue to mask if you aren’t feeling well, and follow all safety guidelines. Vaccination prevents deadly cases of COVID and if you are vaccinated you may not experience symptoms. However, vaccination does not prevent you from getting COVID and we regularly witness ‘breakthrough cases’.

The Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) has recommended not to withhold the COVID-19 vaccines from pregnant women. They also recommend that breastfeeding mothers be offered the vaccine as soon as they would otherwise be offered it based on their risk level.

March is National MS – Multiple Sclerosis – Education and Awareness month. MS is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. The exact cause is unknown, but we do know that something triggers the immune system to attack the central nervous system. Because symptoms are related to many other diseases, MS requires you to see a Neurologist and testing for diagnosis.

Mohs Surgery
During Mohs surgery, cancerous tissue is removed in small sections. While the patient waits, a pathologist examines each tissue specimen for malignant cells. If malignant cells are found, more tissue is removed until the cancer is eradicated. This comprehensive microscopic examination helps to target only cancerous tissue, significantly reducing damage to healthy surrounding tissue. The surgery excises not only the visible tumor but any "roots" extending beneath the surface of the skin. Five-year cure rates of up to 99% for first-time cancers and 95% for recurring cancers have been documented.

Oregon Medical Group dermatologists provide patients with safe, effective and current techniques for skincare. We care for everything from rashes to skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology. Skin Cancer
Mohs micrographic surgery is a safe and highly effective treatment for skin cancer. It is primarily used to treat basal and squamous cell carcinomas, the two most common types of skin cancer, although it can be used for melanoma and other types of cancer. Mohs surgery is often recommended for recurring cancers, as well as those in difficult-to-treat areas, such as the nose, eyelids, lips, hairline, hands, feet, and genitals, in which preserving as much tissue as possible is extremely important.
