Pediatric Care
We firmly believe in the effectiveness of vaccines to prevent serious illness and to save lives. We firmly believe in the safety of our vaccines. We firmly believe that all children and young adults should receive all of the recommended vaccines according to the schedule published by the CDC, and American Academy of Pediatrics.
Primary Care
This “team treatment” partnership has produced highly satisfactory results, with our hospitalized patients reporting excellent experiences regarding the care which they have received. We do realize that some patients may be disappointed that they will not be seeing their primary care physician during their hospital stay. While we understand this concern, our experience has demonstrated that the present system does improve the quality of care overall and increases our availability to see patients within the office.
Ear Infections
While some problems such as urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast infections, or eye infections can be safely treated over the telephone, most medical problems do require an office visit for appropriate evaluation. Our providers do not prescribe antibiotics over the telephone for presumed sinus infections, bronchitis, sore throats or ear infections.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to accommodate every single request for a same day appointment. In order to see patients as quickly as possible, we may ask you to wait until the following day, come in on a Saturday morning, or even refer you to the Urgent Care for evaluation. Some medical problems, such as acute chest pain or serious injuries cannot be treated within an office setting and necessitate more extensive facilities. In these situations we may recommend immediate assessment in the Emergency Department.
Colonoscopy
Adults over age 50, and some people with a family history of colon cancer, should have a colonoscopy to screen for colorectal cancer at least once every ten years. Our doctors and physician assitants do not perform this important procedure, but will refer you to a gastroenterologist for screening. If you are up to date, we may ask to contact your gastroenterologist to retrieve the report of your colonoscopy if it is not already in our records.

Children require frequent visits in the first three years of life and annual WCC visits every year thereafter. Immunizations, lab tests or vision/hearing tests are often needed during WCC visits.

Gynecology
Some of our patients receive routine gynecology care with an OB/GYN physician or nurse midwife, while others receive such screening in our office. Our office will try to make certain that women at risk for cervical cancer will have pap smears according to the recommended schedule whether in our office or elsewhere.

Foot Infections
Patients with diabetes are at very high risk for medical complications of this condition, including heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and foot infections. The entire staff of Valley Medical Associates will be working to ensure that each patient with diabetes has office visit every three to six months, regular labs tests, as well as an up-to-date diabetic eye exam, foot exam, and flu shot.
