Overall

I wrote this email to the owners son after an experience I had. I gave it two stars instead of one because I think the core of the business might still be good, but until they police their people experiences like this will continue.

This email is for Troy. Also because it is long it will come in several parts. A few years ago I purchased my first Lowe boat from you along with a trailer. I was pleased with the sale and how you handled the transaction, and I have been pleased with the boat as well. Recently I have been thinking about upgrading to a larger boat.

I sent an email request for a quote on a V1672HD and asked if you had one in stock. I received an email from someone named Ron that you did not have it is stock, but I got no quote. I found this a strange reply, actually lazy reply, since they can be ordered and a quote does not mean they have to be in stock.

A few days later I was contacted by the manufacturer to see if I had received my quote. In the mean time I had sent another request through the manufacturer for a quote on the same boat, a trailer and a 40HP tiller motor noting that I would install it myself because I knew the 40 was 10 HP over the recommended amount.

I told the rep I had not received a quote and told him my story about the reply from Ron. He apologized and offered to pass this along as I would have preferred to do business with you since I had a good experience in the past. I soon received a phone call that same day from the same salesman, Ron. I must say it was a VERY bad experience. All he wanted to do was argue. He ignored my request for a 40HP and was going to quote me for a 30HP. He was adding a battery into the quote which was not requested or needed. He told me I would get arrested, a ticket, for putting the 40 on the boat. I knew that was false because there is no such law. I had already contacted the Coastguard to see if it was legal or not and it is. The stickers are just a manufacturer recommendation, not a legally binding agreement with the owner.

When I revealed to him I had contacted the coast guard for all the facts on this and reminded him again I was going to install the engine I was told I would have to sign a waver to get the motor which you were not going to install. At that point I knew this guy was a total knucklehead and this would never work so I hung up since I knew you had absolutely no liability in what I did with the engine since you were not installing it and all he wanted to do was argue. I would get married if I wanted to argue. I regret that you will no longer be my choice of dealerships and I will be placing this experience on the net under reviews of the business, but with knuckleheads like Ron working for you my guess is I am not the only one leaving you.

I drove 170 miles one way to have warranty work done on my Mercury outboard , because Rick at Captain Kirks was eager to perform warranty work , when my local dealers did not want to because it was not purchased from them. While there , I had them perform regular maintenence on it. They did excellent work at a fair price . My boat was also washed when I picked it up ! Well worth my time to deal with people who care. Thanks Rick and Captain Kirks !

bought my boat from someone else but ended up at Kirks for my service work. They came highly recomended from a co worker and I was not disappointed. They saved my bacon recently when i was headed to a tournament and having motor trouble. Not only did they get my boat out in time for the trip, but my motor ran perfect all weekend. will recomend to anyone looking
