Welcome to Shoulson & Associates Family Practice. We are a small family-oriented medical practice. Please contact us at the above numbers for information. Our philosophy at Shoulson & Associates is that medical care is best provided to the whole family, for all stages of the patients¿ lifetimes. Our caring staff treats the whole patient, not just as an individual, but also as member of a family and a community. We will spend time with you and listen to all your questions, and go the extra mile to address any concerns you have. Dr Shoulson is affiliated with St Peter's University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, both in New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Shoulson trained at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine and the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. She performed her residency at the Hunterdon Medical Center Family Practice Residency Program in Flemington, NJ. Dr. Shoulson is board certified in Family Practice. She lives in Highland Park, NJ with her husband Mark, a computer programmer, and her two children, Isaac (age 11) and Esther (age 9). She has been practicing medicine for ten years. Family Practice is considered a branch of medicine, but I think of it as a philosophy of medical care. As a family physician, I use a biopsychosocial view of each individual patient. The physical symptoms may be triggered or made worse by the psychological and social factors in a patient's life. If these other factors are not at least acknowledged, the physical illness and symptoms can be much harder to treat. Often just being aware of these issues, and helping the patient to be aware of them as well, can help even if it is not possible to eliminate them. As a family physician, I treat all ages, newborns to the elderly, men and women, and every member of the family. We can thus take into consideration all of the factors impacting on a patient's health.
