Overall

I had to run out the other day to buy a chord and I had the pleasure of meeting Bob! Very cool guy! Let me start by saying it is so cool that shops like this are still around! Bob does great work has some cool older 80s guitars and can possibly get me the Charvel I have always wanted! He is knowledgeable and knows the business well! What started out as me buying a chord ended up with me buying a lefty acoustic for my Fiancé'! She wants to learn to play and is a left hander. Bob cut us a great deal on a nice acoustic! THANKS AGAIN BOB! I also plan to possibly take my guitars aka the kids there to be worked on, like I said, he knows his business well! Lastly in case you did not know it, Bob is the original guitar player from XYZ!! I had heard of these guys being an old metal head myself! I bought his CD today Rainy Days recorded back in 85 and man does this guy rip!!! As I will be moving to Seymore soon I am considering lessons. I have played most of my life but can always learn more! He is planning to get back together with the original drum player from the band and call themselves, XYZ Revisited. BOB LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU PLAY I WILL BE THERE! I recommend you see Bob and his store, it is well worth the visit.God Bless you Bob, and thanks again!!!

I've brought many guitars to Bob and have been pleased with every project he does. If you want a professional job done to your prized guitar then bob is the man to trust. The job will be done in the time frame he says it will be and be done correctly the FIRST time. Everything comes at a cost though. You get what you pay for. If your expecting a bargin price then look elsewhere. Bob does professional work and charges applicable for it (as he should). You get what you pay for. You want cheap then go to guitar center and have some kid learning the trade set up your ax assembly line style. you want a pro job... go to a pro. i wont go anywhere else.

Thank you Guitar Fixer Bob! B...

Thank you Guitar Fixer Bob! Bob has brought my baby back to life. My 1983 guitar had seen better days. I never thought it would be playable again. Bob fixed it so that it sounds like it did when I first fell in love with her, I can not thank Bob enough!

I checked this shop out after reading about it in the paper. I talked to Bob about a very old (36 year old Atlas) and very abused guitar that my wife bought for me in 1975. Bob assured me that he could get it back in shape. I brought the guitar in for him to check out. He looked at it, ran down the work that was needed, and he gave me a price. I doubted that my old beloved "beater" could be resurrected. Bob told me that this old guitar would be at least as good as new. When I picked it up? It sounded sweet. He restored it to sound BETTER than when it was new. I now take special care with this old "sweetheart" , and I actually play it more often than my Martin D-15.

Bob does the best best setup o...

Bob does the best best setup on any guitar. He worked on my Strat, Tele, Les Paul and ES335. They have never played better. This is a business I hope never leaves.

I have recommended other players and they all have the same comment, "This guy does great work." Check out the consignments. Something for every level from collector to student.

If your guitar has the blues take it to the Guitar Doctor he will have it singing in no time.

Located Bob's service via Goog...

Located Bob's service via Google then drove in the 20+ miles from Waterbury. First off, allow me to say that I wasn't planning my day to be Switzerland in the middle of a Brian's Guitars turf war. It seems that Brian Choen who had a store in New Haven (of which I shopped and purchased my first PRS many years ago) and sold out to Sam Ash in '96 is rather unhappy about the new store in Hamden of the same name and maybe rightly so. I've been dealing with Brian's Guitars in Hamden and found them to be fair reputable purveyors of new and used fine guitars. I informed Bob of this and that I really didn't care about their goings on as I have been treated fairly by both parties. I then produced my Fender Mexican Telecaster with a newly installed Warmoth Pro neck. Now, I don't know my not taking sides in the aforementioned issues had anything to do with Bob's attitude towards me or my guitar but, all I was seeking was some advice and maybe some work done on the guitar neck. Bob informed me that this type of Warmoth neck is problematic due to the heavy truss rod installed as well as extreme pressures on the neck. He is of the belief that a guitar neck should be straight on with little or no relief as taught to him by Mr.Suhr, however many reknowned luthiers have insisted that SOME relief should be present on the neck so apples and oranges there. He also insisted that the problems I'm experiencing are my hearing frequencies however, if I should part with $250/$75(set up) for a fret redressing that may solve my issues. The MAIN issue here is I've dealt with many Warmoth necks in my 30+ years as a semi professional guitarist and never had any problems. Is this my first? Maybe, but before I shell out $250 that may or may not take care of this I'd appreciate someone who actually cared about my instrument rather than his reputation or personal agenda.

Hmmm. Little confused, because I told him to NOT spend the $250 because the problem was not the frets. Not sure where he's going, or coming from, with this, but I, too, have been working with and on guitars for more than 30 years - as a PROFESSIONAL player and luthier! - and stand by the advice I gave him. I wasn't sure what his purpose was in coming to me, since the owner of the Hamden Brian Guitars told me he sent this guy in to dig for information. If he needed a fret job, I would certainly have told him so, because I do the best fret work around. And I only charge $75 for a setup - and it gets done right! I do care a lot about my reputation (is that a bad thing?), but that's because I've put a lot of years and effort into learning and perfecting my craft. And I welcome anyone to the store who cares about music and instruments.
